Well, after some days of inactivity, I've continued my Zelda 3 hack. The Light World is finally finished, and the Dark World is going along nicely. Since I don't want to bump my old thread I'll just post the updates here:

-----------------------
LIGHT WORLD:

-----------------------
DARK WORLD:

I'll post In-game screens tonight or later...

That's... thorough. Wow. Really impressive work there, both in amount and quality. I also notice that it doesn't look too hard to walk from point to point in most cases, which is nice.

Keep up the extraordinary work.

Hey, the finished light world looks great! The dark world seems to be coming along just as nicely! By the way, how do you make those pictures of the world maps? Do you take screenshots from the emulator, or do you export maps from a savestate before putting it all together?

Woah, a lot of quality and detail in there. The overworld looks vast and complex. I can tell you have been working hard.

I use HM to view them, then Print Screen, crop in Paint, export in Paint Shop Pro, resize to 50%, Print Screen, paste back in Paint, then crop, then copy/paste into my 2000x2000 picture of either overworlds... Then open the overworld picture in Paint Shop Pro (when all saved), resize to 30%, and finally save to JPEG... might seems long but actually it doesn't take long..

Looks really, really awesome. That looks like an awesome hack. Good work and keep it up.

Question: When will you get started on the dungeons? I am just curious...

Very nice as always... not much I can tell that needs to be fixed.

In screen 12, there is a faint box around the ether medallion symbol. Its not that bad, but it would look better if fixed.

In screen 15... The stairs dont look like they connect to the top of the hill... Kinda weird looking

All in all, its coming along very nicely like always.

They are already started. I might show some screens later on. As I state previously, Garmichael is in charge of the dungeons as I finish my Over Worlds. When I'll be done with those, say in a week or two, I'll be helping him with them and do various other things like GFX hacking and Title screens, monologue... etc... I'll also change Link's sprite to a more appropriate sprite then the Four Swords one. A custom one by Daisuke.

I believe, that's inspirated from Ocarina Of Time.

nice work.

i noticed... Screen 70, be careful of it, not even i can get rid of that rain thing (since it opens up a level)

Just try it, move from say 72 to 70 and you'll see, but you can press X button to the map then come back and it'll be fixed.

Hey, good choice of link sprites there. Just wondering, how much are you going to complete until a beta testing release? Just the overworlds, or a couple of dungeons too?

And OoT Link is cooler than Z3's one. So yes, like I said he's better like this. BUt it seems weird to see a Z3 blonde haired Link.

Thanks!

OK. Do you suggest I disable any access to Area 70 like in the original ROM? So in that way, would it be ok ?

I think I'll postpone it when the Light World part of the story be finished. Say, three dungeons, the beginning places, sprites inserted, GFX modifcations done. Don'y worry I shall announce it in a proper time. (I don't want to rush it, since I try my best at keeping it bug free; but still you guys will see bugs I will never see; probably...)

Just give me time to contact Garmichael, and I shall but my Light World/Part of the Dark World together with his dungeons, and then the first private beta shall be ready. And while you'll be testing it, I'll be continuing my work, I'll have to work on dungeons too this time. You just wait; and while were at it, I too can't wait to see more of your hack, looks really good so far; you're one guy that pushes your worlds to the limit without carring about the uniformity of them...

I'm not saying you shouldn't use it, what i've been trying to do is to make the routine for loading the gfx like how you enter Area 00/40 (with the blank out) but it might not work....

Do keep in mind if i can't get it working then it might stay that way.

Btw, i noticed that you split the Are 00/40 square, how does the blank out work? (just for Area 00/40 or is it including the castle?)
