| There really aren't many restrictions on the school computers here, I can go on boards all I want, just not play games At work, some sites are blocked out (not sure how it's determined), and I can't access acmlm.cjb.net:2 (maybe because of the port 2), but I can get here perfectly fine  |

You can never really guess at my school. They have a crappy filter, on the off chance it filters something I give 1/8 of a damn about, I just use a proxy. The XP systems have Deep Freeze which is annoying, I know how to get rid of it but that'd require a minute without the teacher watching.  Of course I mostly use Win98 which has mostly had it removed (if not by teachers who are sick of it, then by me; most of the teachers don't give a damn since they're stuck with the same dumb restrictions and are always looking for workarounds). The Win98 systems are quite laxed, prolly cuz they're cheap. XP downloads configurations from the network which disallow just about everything; right-click, the File menu (it's GONE  ) and in some cases going directly to My Computer; you have to go to a folder and use the URL bar. (Occasionally the whole desktop's gone.) I could work around these things, except A) I don't use them enough to really give a damn and B) all XP systems are watched like windows in a prison. (No pun intended; though it's a good analogy.  )It's fun using various remote admin programs (not trojans, just freeware VNCs, so the crappy antivirus installed on every 5th system doesn't crap a brick) to freak people out too.  |
