That sounds nice, and you'll be using all the ExGFX from the ExGFX workshop? Nice. Let's hope this doesn't get discontinued. | |||

I have another ExGFX set to submit. This one's....well, I can't really describe it in one word. It's called "general". There's 4 tiles to use with the "smashable brick" custom block, at the bottom there's some free space, it requires a custom palette, and there's map16 for pretty much stuff in general, such as spikes, blocks...oh, you name it. I uploaded it, so Coby, if you want to upload this you can. Click here for the actual map16 and ExGFX. Click here for the 8x8 image. Click here for the 16x16 image. Well that pretty much wraps it up. |

If you ever get a new comp I would STRONGLY suggest a Windows one, as it's compatible with nearly all programs (DOS works on it too). |

Could someone give me a step by step (numbers 1. 2. etc.) of how to get ExGFX into Lunar Magic. I have tried so many times, followed steps in this thread and others, checked the LM help file and all that but the GFX are still messed up. I think I might be mising a step. Thnaks to any one who can help me!! PS: once I get some GFX into my game I need to do 3 more levels and I can release a DEMO!! PSS: What program can I use to get backrounds (my custom made pictures) into LM? PSSS: Sorry but also how do you use ExGFX to get the bottom part of the classic pirana plant? Thanks for all the help. |

Originally posted by playstation3 Alright.... ExGFX isnt that hard to insert... and the fact that we are giving you everything assembled and ready to go makes it easier. Basically all you have to do is first extract the Gfx and ExGFX from the rom.... via colored mushrooms, then re-insert the two. Next, rename the ExGFX file to ExGFX##, where ## is a number from 80 - FF in hex. Next, place the file in the ExGraphics folder. Now, insert the ExGFX again. Go up to the red poison mushroom.... (At least I think thats what it is) and click it. Go to FG3, and click the drop-down arrow. Scroll down to the number of the file you inserted, and click okay. NOW, WE KNOW THE GFX IS GOING TO BE GARBLED.... THAT IS BECAUSE YOU ARE REPLACING THE GAMES ORIGINAL GFX, AND EVERYTHING DOES NOT MATCH UP. This is where the map16 file comes in. Open up the 16x16 editor, and scroll to a page beyond 3. Now, press F3, and click okay. Now assemble the stuff VIA direct map 16 access in the objects window.... Now if a palette was included, go to file -> Palette -> insert. CONGRATS, YER HOME FREE. Now, if you have your own hand drawn GFX, things are a bit different. Okay, first of all, you need to make sure your .bin file does not exceed 4kb, otherwise you have a problem. Now.... Insert the GFX like before, and insert your own palette if necessary. Now, open up the 8x8 editor, and the 16x16 editor, and prepare for some work. In the 16x16 editor, scroll to a blank page, and click on the first tile. The first four boxes refer to the 8x8 tiles that are going to be used. The palette is the palette# to be used, and layer priority ie does mario walk behind the object or not? Now, go to the 8x8 editor, and change palettes using the buttons, and it should say palette rendered... 0x#, the number being the palette. Now, hover the tooltip over teh 8x8 tile you want to use and a number should pop up. Take that number, and transfer it over to the correct place in the 16x16 box. Now continue doing this until youre done getting the tiles. Now Set the palette, and the layer priority, and click okay. Now you have a 16x16 ile. Click the Edit 16x16 attributes button, and go to gameplay properties box. This refers to what tile the block will act like. A slope, a pipe, or something else. The numbers can be found in the first two pages of the object editor. Now, take the number and put it in the box, click okay, and right click it into existance. Now hit F9, and say yes. Continue this process until you are done. Hit F9 on more time and say okay. Now use the insert objects window... and YER DONE, OMG, BUILD YER LEVEL.!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!! I hope that was some help.... *dies of exhaustion* (edited by Kirby all the way on 04-30-04 07:44 PM) |
