I'll make a new version as soon as I get it, so giving it to the beta guys seperately isn't really necessary.

Thanks a ton.

Alright, I put the link to the data file in your PM inbox, you can just copy and paste it into your current file.

Alright, I got it. Really impressive, that list. Thanks a bunch.

I fixed the overflow error that some levels gave, and changed their descriptions in the file to reflect that (Best I could tell, they were all parts of the final castle). The others I saw were unknown objects (FB and F7, if I remember right), so I'll go figure out what they are and add them to the data files to fix that.

New version, v0.42, contains Golden Yoshi's updated level index data file (LevelList.txt) and the overflow fix.

EDIT: Fixed a bug in the header editor. If you downloaded that version already, try again.

Hey, squash, you said I could be a beta tester, and I never got a link or anything. What... y'know... what's the deal, man?
EDIT: In fact, it was right here. http://www.board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=2954&page=16

Clockworkz - "When that slows down a bit, I'll either add you five (and maybe more) or make an open beta."

The thing's going to be released some time early next week. Consider it an open beta if it makes you feel happy. At the time I wrote that, I expected that there was going to be an actual need for more beta testers. Sorry if I got you excited over nothing.

Speaking of the beta: v0.50 is up.

Changes:
-Added horizontile/vertical only 4-byte object support.
-Added cross section view.
-Added change zoom option.
-Streamlined source.
-Made load by offset work with sprites (but you need to provide their offsets. This function is still inferior to load by index, especially after Golden Yoshi's help with the indexes file)
-Ordered menus slightly.
-Changed prefixing format. Special 4 byte objects now use prefix X (instead of S) and sprites use S (instead of Sprite).

A few notes:
-I might not have added all the horizontile/vertical only objects. If you see one I didn't cover, tell me.
-I haven't marked any of the cross-section objects, since I've not experimented much with them. Does anyone know all the objects that should dissapear when in cross-section mode?

There is a display problem now with the sprites. Now, all 3 digit sprite numbers are displayed incorrectly in the tooltips and on the level editing screen. Let's say I put sprite 11A on the screen, it will read "1A" on the actual sprite and on the tooltip, and so on.

Oops, missed that. Fixed though. Same version number. Also, those slopes that were a problem before look pretty easy to do, I'm working on coding something that'll draw a line across the box where the slope belongs.

Clockworkz - Nope, haven't. Wednessday of next week is what I'm shooting for though. I've marked up a website for it (looks fairly good, and, better yet, doesn't work right in IE! ), just need to flesh out the content and upload.

Uh oh...another bug. With the special 4 byte objects, when you go to insert them, it inserts the object + 1. So let's say I insert X16, it will insert X17 instead, and so on.

Wow, that one must've been there for a very long time without getting noticed . Good catch.

I fixed it and uploaded as version 0.51. However, this version has halfway coded slope support. Only two objects (4 and 5) are marked as slopes at the moment, but it's rather easy to mark more objects (check DataFormats.txt). Upside down slopes aren't coded yet and I'm not sure backwards slopes are coded right.

Actually, that problem only started after you starting using the prefix "X" for the special byte objects .

Well, the editor looks like it is coming along nicely. I am glad to hear that there is an open beta release soon. There are some really nice features in the editor and some I want to try. Can't wait to try it and cause it to crash in some way. The interface also doesn't seem that hard to use, but people who relie on graphics to see what they are editing will probably not even try it. I can almost tell what each object is what (such as what the ground is and stuff). Good work, Squash Monster.

I don't care about seeing graphics, like, if I know what tiles/sprites I'm dealing with, it is no problem
And from what I'm seeing, this project seems promising!

And they can code their own editors, or do without. Pretty simple.

It hasn't prevented Golden Yoshi from making some pretty snazzy looking levels so far, but then again, he seems like he was just BORN to make levels in ALL Mario games. The word "Natural" comes to mind...

*Drooling* AWESOME...that makes me want to be a beta tester. Oh well.

Hey Golden Yoshi, where can I download a demo of your hack? So I can have something else to play besides Frozen Paradise?

I am currently working on 1-4. Once I am finished making that level, which should be by Monday, I will release a demo. I want to release it before the editor for three reasons:
1) It's kinda like a "tech" demo, to show you what the editor is capable of so far. And once you see the demo, you'll know you'll be able to do a lot.
2) So it will be an exclusive.
3) I will have released the very first YI hack using a level editor .

I believe this editor should be for people who are familiar with YI. It may seem hard at first, because you need to learn what's what since you don't have the graphics yet, but you'll get the hang of it quickly. So my message to the people who rely on graphics is not to worry, this editor is capable of making great levels.

It's just alot more easier with the GFX. Ohh well. Not my concern now. My bet's for the 1st YI editor release is still on Eggvine.

It's Sunday. Ohh boy, I can't wait.

Squash Monster: Why don't you make a small one world hack called "Demo's Island" where you make 8 new levels, add some graphics from other games and inserts new blocks? Then, a few years later, you can make a hack called "Demo's Island: The Adventure Continues" where you hack all of the worlds and add amazing ASM hacks and other things.
