Two suggestions, first make a "Run rom in a emulator" thingy if possible. That exists in LM, and it's a quite feature in LM. (and it saves a few seconds... )

Change the describtion for AE, it dosen't lock the joypad for me. It summons the big koopa boss.

I gotta love when diffrent sprite tilesets conflicts with each other and create freaky things... (that's the big koopa boss, with a piranha plant head...)

I added a bit to that description, though it likely does lock the joypad sometimes.

As for "Run rom in a emulator", would you happen to know the command line parametres for any emulators off the top of your head?

D:\Emulation\Snes\ZSNESW.EXE "D:\Emulation\Eggvine\Yoshi.smc"

Replace with your location of Zsnes and the ROM.

And it does lock up the joypad, but only until the boss transforms. If it can't transform (due how the level is designed) the joypad never get's unlocked.

Edit: And somehow, that level get's stuck on the intro. I assume something is messed up with the level and the game refuse to load it. Intresting... the only thing I did was deleting and creating some objects, just playing around.

Beta folks - new version, same link. Fixes bug with lowing the number of sprites.

Alright, I'll add that feature in, Kitten Yiffer.

He already has a set number of beta testers testing it for him. You are a little to late for a spot (though he may change his mind later on).

...your not the the only one that wants it.

Beta folks - New version, same link. Fixed a bug that made it possible to make an object and have it think it was a sprite. That should hopefully be it for a while.

I don't think I'll need more beta testers. I just added Kitten Yiffer to get a double-check on how user friendly the program is, as new users haven't built up tolerance to quirks in a program.

However, I'm pretty sure I'll have a release version some time this week, so no need to want to get into the beta.

...now that I said that though, I'm just asking for my first hard drive crash. I'll go back up.

EDIT - Yes, yet another version!
There was a bug with HiROM adress reading. Now there isn't. Level 1-2 will look much better now.

Placing a poundable log who is 2 blocks wide or more make the game to refuse loading the level (it get stuck on make egg, throw egg intro). This bug is more related to how Yoshi island handles thing and not the editor, still...

Currently i'm mostly playing around, intresting that for example Fuzzies kill Layer 3 and really mess up the goal animation.

The program is quite userfriendly as it. I have seen more confusing editors, you don't see exactly how it looks in the game thought. And there is no easy way to edit the header. (you can edit it through the editor, but there is no help... )

Hi.

@Squash Monster, sorry, but I couldn't beta test yet because I don't have the VB6 runtime over where I am now and my modem connection is 30kbit. Would you be so kind to wait until saturday (t3h 14th) for my testing report, as my flight back home is on friday (t3h 13th, w00t). kthx.

Squash Monster: My suggestion to you is to have it beta tested for a longer time then you have planned. If you do release it to the public shortly, you will probably get masses of questions, and also probably many people bashing it because it doesn't do this, that and whatever.
Or at least put huge fat warning texts everywhere saying "THIS IS A FUCKING BETA, DON'T WHINE OR ASK STUPID QUESTION"

Ah, but it does do this, that, and whatever! I built a cheesy hex editor right into it!

Joking asside, I'd like to be as free of bugs and features that aren't complete as possible. Since Blackhole will be back so soon, I think I'll wait untill at least after he's had a look at it, since that's so convenient and all.

Kitten Yiffer, a poundable log probably is a vertical only object, which means each block of width is equal to 16 of height. Either that makes it bigger than the game programmers ever decided to handle, or it's actually not set up to be vertical only and thus it crashes becouse it has no clue what to do with width.

I'm actually kind of suprised with how sturdily the game is set up. I had it loading a few thousand sprites (accident, of course) into a level and it didn't bug up nearly as much as one would think. The Tap-Tap boss is pretty effective at level navigation too. Only thing it can't handle is sprite platforms, which is quite reasonable and actually kind of convenient.

Speaking of layer three killers, try using the gigantic chomp that eats sand. That's really funky in levels like, say, 1-1.

So it did turn out user friendly. That's good. The header dialogue in the editor will get code some time soon. It will be about as user friendly as it looks.

I'm finding the editor reasonably user-friendly. Not very, but it is quite simple to add your desired objects and sprites. You just have to figure out the correct spots to place objects and sprites, which sometimes takes a few tries, but that is not a major problem at all.

Here's a screen of my new 1-1 so far...

As you can see...it is simple to add new sprites and objects. Those egg blocks on the left are actually not the expanding blocks...they're the blocks that change in to the red coin eggs, they just flash different colors.

Thanks, I'm glad everyone finds the interface reasonable.

Your level looks spiffy.

And header support is done now. You'll also find that if you right click on multiple objects in the same spot, a little list will show up that lets you put one of them above the others, so you can edit it.
New version, 0.27.

Can you load the graphics yet? Or is it still coloured boxes?
Before a public release, I would load in the graphics if you havent already.

Loading graphics isn't important for a beta release. Determined hackers will make the most of what the editor does have.

Nope, it can't. The lack of graphics isn't really that much of a problem when you use the thing, and it would delay a release greatly. I'll still make that feature, but I don't see any reason why the first public release needs them. Thanks Dan.

And it's time for another beta release.
Version 0.40. (I'd been forgetting to increment the major version number, so I'm catching up now).

New features: Stationary tooltip option, import level header from other level, and screen exit editing. The add and remove buttons used for objects and sprites apply here as well, in case it's not obvious (I'll make it more apparent later).

I should have asked to be a beta tester! I really want to try out this editor, whether with bugs or not. I won't complain unless I find a bug... but since you have plenty of betas...

Editor looks good, even though it is just a bunch of squares. As long as I could tell what is what, I am good to go.

I do half to say that isnt it going to be kinda hard to figure out which objects have the GFX correctly loaded if you cant display the GFX in the editor, it is nice and everything but Im just saying, dont you think thats going to be a problem to some people?
