Toxic: That's the joy of living RIGHT on the borderline. I can pull for the Red Sox, then turn around and support the Giants (football) and Rangers (hockey, assuming the NHL comes back from the dead, but does not get up and kill everyone). So you've heard about Randy Moss, right? After scoring his second TD in a Vikings whomping of Green Bay, he turned his back to the crowd, motioned as if he were mooning them (mimed dropping his pants... did everything but actually grab his pants) then rubbed his (clothed, mind you) ass on the goalposts. Fox and ESPN initially cranked up the outrage machine, but some time around 5:30 EST Monday (read: Pardon the Interruption), they said not showing it was stupid and just aired the incident (then called it what it was... a nothing issue). Is it ever the No Fun League... Moss got fined $10,000. Let me repeat: He ACTED like he was mooning them. Did anyone see naked Moss ass? Nope. Is it news? Nope. How'd he make news, then? Scoring two touchdowns. Not because of a TD dance, not because of his hair (a 'fro of Boondocks-ian proportions), which Skip Bayless bitched about on Cold Pizza the next morning. However, a voice of reason: Randy Moss: Reporter: "Write the check yet, Randy?" Moss: "When you're rich you don't write checks." Reporter: "If you don't write checks, how do you pay these guys?" Moss: "Straight cash, homey." Reporter: "Randy, are you upset about the fine?" Moss: "No, cause it ain't shit. Ain't nothing but 10 grand. What's 10 grand to me? Ain't shit |

Yeah, I love how his mooning, or lackthereof is such a fucking big deal. ZOMG HE ACTED LIKE HE WAS PULLING DOWN HIS PANTS. fuck you nfl, don't you see that a) the stars don't care and b) the fans don't really give a damn either (edited by Toxic on 01-14-05 08:26 PM) |

... Is it really wrong for me to wish that Randy Moss does something like this on Sunday and gets totally blindsided in retaliation, resulting in a Grade 3 concussion? |

I can compare if I want to. Oh man... Pittsburgh vs. New York yesterday was a great nail-biter. Course, it's fun to see a kicker kick his way out of a job next season, but talk about chokejobs. |

I didn't watch the Vikes game much, but GOD DAMN Did the Patriots romp on the Colts. It was pretty funny actually. This image is from last year, but it fits |

I didn't think Manning had a bad game stat-wise but the whole Colts team... bah. NE had the gameplan set and it worked. The strongest teams are all left, so next week should be very interesting. |

The Patriots are to the Colts as the Packers are to the 49ers Anyways, I was surprised to see the score 20 to 3 in the middle of the 4th. Even when facing a depleted secondary, the Colts (or Manning) couldn't do much. I wonder if last year's Colts would have done better versus this year's Patriots. Oh well, Patriots and Pittsburgh, maybe second time is a charm for the Patriots, plus this time they have Dillion (who they were missing the last time they played) |

Erm, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Personally, I think... The Bus>Dillion But that's just me. While a rather huge part of me picks the Pats over Pitt this time around, my heart tells me otherwise. I'm a die hard Steelers fan. They are my second favorite team, next to the Packers/Panthers (I'm from Wisconsin, currently living in NC, so they're both TIED for 1st; I'll just leave it at that ). Looks like Couer (?) is really serious about bringing this team further than he's ever taken them before this year. |

I thought the Steelers went to one super bowl during Cowler's reign...I think I'm going to look that up. EDIT: Thought so, the Steelers went to the 1996 Super Bowl and lost to Dallas (edited by neotransotaku on 01-22-05 04:11 PM) |

Well the Eagles are finally in the Superbowl, with McNabb at the helm. Took em long enough |

Bah, only one Penn team in the Super Bowl. I thought Pittsburgh could still pull it off in the 4th but... Ai ya. New England is just too good. I wasn't too sure about that interception call though... |

dang, I missed a weekend of great football because I came down with the flu So, based on what you guys say, it is going to be the Pats vs. the Eagles--what's the call?

As much as I hate to have to say it, I think New England has the definite advantage in this game. Of course, both the last two times the Pats have gone to the Super Bowl, things haven't gone as expected (St. Louis was supposed to crush New England three years ago and LOST, while New England was pushed to the limit against a Carolina team they were expected to destroy last year). So who knows what will actually happen. |

I don't want to jinx a certain team, but I'm pulling for them. P A ...etc. And that doesn't stand for Pennsylvania |

hmm...it appears that T.O. wants to play on that ankle--is that a good idea? i can sympathize with him but at the same time it isn't a good idea...

Yeah, I don't think that's a great plan of action. I'd laugh if he permanently damaged it in the game on a hit by Asante Samuel.

I read in yesterday's paper about someone he may be trying to mimic: Jerry Rice. Back sometime in RIce injured his knee in the first game of the year. Determined to make it back in the same season, he made it in the last game--only to injure it again in that game and open the door for T.O. (and rice has never been the same again) So, like role model, like role model...kid? |
