I'd say Miss Machine is the best thing they've ever done. They've really eased down on the technical side of things, but musically this is without a doubt their best material yet. That and their current vocalist (Greg) is way better than Dimitri could ever hope to be. I think Greg does a better job with DEP than even Mike Patton did, and I adore Irony Is a Dead Scene.

"Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants" is such a freakin' amazing song. Causes me to blow a mental load each and every time I hear it. The clean vocals on this album--this song especially--are done really, really well. Probably my favorite album of 2004 so far--better than efforts by Skinny Puppy, Capharnaum, Raunchy, Arsis, haloblack, Air, Einst

I really dislike Dillinger Escape Plan... Their music is very... interesting I'm not sure how they'd be compared with a band like Franz Ferdinand

Anyway, I thought I'd add that I saw them live at Reading Festival in 2002... And saw the turd flinging incident first hand It's becoming legend, now

Not comparable to Franz Ferdinand at all, just saying that of the albums of this year I've heard, I like DEP's most.

"Metalcore" (a very dorky sounding sub-genre name) is probably my favorite form of metal. The Dillinger Escape Plan, Botch, Between the Buried and Me, Yakuza, The Red Chord, early Cave In, Drowningman, Unearth... I love that stuff. Hopefully I'll be seeing BTBAM with Cave In and Converge this October (if work doesn't get in the way).
