How long has that green coin been a usable thread icon?

MODEMS BEWARE, THIS IMAGE IS 400+ KB!

Anyway, here is a map I drew for a story I'm writing. Don't bother asking about the story, I'm still working on that.

This map doesn't feature any towns or their names yet, but I'll work more on that tonight. And the rivers/lakes look like crap. Nonetheless, someone comment on it.

It's a start. Chances are I'd be more inclined to draw a rough map by hand, with no colour, just symbols, if I were to include it. But that's just me. Make sure your towns are to proportion, and shaped properly? Town shapes can get a little strange, especially with local topography taken into consideration.

That's good. Except for the rivers. I'd just use the same texture as the sea but a little darker for them.

I feel like doing an Acmlm board map of that one...

Nice for an start. There is just towns missing and such. But it looks like the maps which you can find in some fantasy books.

The mountains look a bit too cloned, you should have few unique ones with names . Looks overall nifty though.

Actually, it looks like Dungeons & Dragons maps. It looks pretty good. It would be fun to see big mountains instead of those small mountains but you

Hmm, not bad, although it's still loading for me cause I'm on teh dialup again

The mountains do need a bit of work, so do the trees I think. They look a little "cloned", you need to vary the sizes and shapes of them and they'll be fine

Some texture not only in the rivers and lakes, but in the banks around them would look good

I liked it.
The mountains and the sea are very weird, though.

Nice meandering and deltas in the rivers, basic geography

The mountains should be thicker, like how the forests are done. The land and shore outline don't look consistant, but they don't matter as much. Maybe the overall look will change once the towns are put in.

Pretty nice, but...

1) Mountains look too similar.
2) Land-shore outline should be more consistant.

I really think its a very great effort. There are some error's such as mountain's overlapping each other but other than that I do not find any problem with the map.

OMG

User 1: Nice, but the mountains looked cloned.
User 2: Yeah, it's good. But did you clone the mountains?
User 3: The mountains are cloned, but good effort!
User 4: That looks great! did you clone the mountains?

for( int 1 = 0; 1 < 5000000; i++ )
printf("Looks good, did you clone the mountains?");

Come on, people At least try to not be trendy. Or I'll tell YD about you guys and she'll mock you all with another comic.

Mountains - Yes, they are cloned. I was in a rush to finish this map as soon as I could, beacuse I wanted to work more on the story about the map (link below). I will be revamping the map at an unknown date

The Forests - Same deal as the mountains. I used a burn effect on them to give them different colors, but it was used badly, thus the forests look like crap as well.

Like I said in my first post, I do not have the names of towns listed on this map. This was an early map that I never got around to doing. However, if you are still interested in this map somewhat, I made a version with towns and stuff on it.

http://www.dragoneyestudios.net/hosted/weasel/maps/index.html

That has a lot more information on the map, why I made it, what it's for, etc.

It's hard drawing something like this when you have absolutely no past experience on the subject Did I do good for my first try?

Oh and for the record, I TOTALLY forgot I posted this thread

The ocean looks nice, and I like how you added depth to the coast. Are the rivers supposed to be a different color like that though?

I really enjoy it. It's different, and in a good way.

It seems like you cloned the mountains though.
