Alastor the Stylish Hey! I made a cool game! It's called "I poisoned half the food, so if you eat you might die!" Have a taco. Level: 114 Posts: 5319/7620 EXP: 16258468 For next: 51099 Since: 03-15-04 From: Oregon, US Since last post: 2 hours Last activity: 2 hours |

Well. First thing, obviously, is to make sure the graphics files you'll be using are as they should be. Then, Level > Change Background Map16 page - all the background tiles have to be from the same page. Open that page in the 16x16 editor, and open the background editor. From there, just left click on the tiles in the 16x16 editor and right click where they should go in the background editor. It's pretty simple actually :x

Alright, I know this topic is like 7 pages long, so I apologize if this has been asked already. You mention that it is possible to edit the music via hex editing. I don't really care for an editor, so doesn anyone have a breakdown of the music format so I can edit the music? Music is a specialty of mine, and I have done a ton of cool stuff with the music in the Genesis Sonic games. (I may post this later) Thanks. |

In the first Overworld Editing question, you address changing events. You say... "To create new ones, you have to open the Layer 2 Event Tile Selector, scroll to page 8 and you will see the tiles for the events." What do you mean by "scroll to page 8?" This is what I'm looking at... Link See; the window is empty except for a few land formations. And despite having the window highlighted, if I try something like Page Up or Page Down, it does so in the Overworld Editor in the background there. Any help? (edited by Slay on 04-27-05 10:11 PM) |

... WTF. That didn't work the last time I tried it, I swear. Somebody's trying to make a fool of me. *shakes fist menacingly at the sky* Okay, new problem. I can't copy from the window to the actual map. Ctrl+C does nothing, right clicking and left clicking do nothing. The path that's already on the map can be copied by right clicking and dragging, but other than that, I can't paste from the clipboard. (edited by Slay on 04-28-05 03:31 AM) |

Try selecting from the window and placing it on the map by holding down CTRL and pressing the right mouse button.

That's what I originally tried. Well, I still can't copy from that clipboard, but fortunately, when I'm in Layer2 8x8 Editor Mode, I can copy from that area to the right of the bottom right of the world map. You know, it's surrounded by gray x's on a blue background. This should serve my purposes, for now, but I'd still feel better if I could just copy from that darned clipboard. I even tried shift and alt clicking, besides just ctrl, and I've tried both left and right clicking. Nothing. Oh well.

Is there any way to make a placed tile appear in front of mario, like the second pillar of the goal post? And the trees in Forest of illusion? I am making SM gfx for it and i want to figure out how to get Mario to go through the door instead of in front of it. I looked through the help files but i couldnt find anything on it...

Yes, they are the same way. Instead of putting the ExGFX in FG3, put them in FG and to arrange the tiles, you have to go past page 10 of the Map16. To change the background image, go to Level>Change BG Map16 Page and change it to the corresponding page. Then go to the background editor and select the tile you want to place in the Map16 and right click in the background editor. It almost acts like the Add Objects menu.

How do I edit the palettes for the "Nintendo Presents" logo? Is it somewhere in the overworld title screen editor?

The "Nintendo Presents" uses the first (I think) five colors of Mario's Palette. However, any other color in that palette will result in black.

Okay, I have a couple of questions: The title screen editing is very strange... I've managed to display the Super Metroid title screen (in 2BPP mind you) in most of its glory, but when I edit the palettes in the title screen editor, it looks fine but when I play them in game, its different... Do I edit level C7's palettes? And why does Palette 3 not let you enable Priority? EDIT: Fixed the color problem! (weird, the title screen GFX use some of Level C7's palettes and not the ones displayed in the title screen.) (edited by KP9000 on 06-15-05 02:47 PM) (edited by KP9000 on 06-15-05 02:54 PM) |

How to create a Renzor battle: Go to a new level. Enter sprite mode. Click on Edit>Insert Manual. Enter A9 into the first textbox and press OK. Click on Mario's head in the toolbar and choose #09 in the topmost dropdown menu. The entire level should turn red and say "Cannot Render: This is a boss battle level!". Save. There you go. Use sprites from other levels: Click on the poisonous mushroom in the toolbar. Choose which sprite set to use in the 2nd dropdown menu. Note that certain enemies can't be used together with certain others without looking wierd. (edited by Smallhacker on 06-18-05 10:07 AM) |
