to give ludwig, morton or roy 5HP open an hex editor and choose offset xD1CD, thats where these 3 bosses' HP is stored. Change the byte from 03 to 05 or any other number..this 'any other number' of course will be the boss HP

thanx! i figured that out, but thanx anyway. hey, you really gotta try this funny thing i did to ludwig in the hex editor. go check out my reply in the "memory addresses has returned" sticky, it is soooo funny! you can do it too, it requires changing a few bytes that are easy to find.

well, i have another question. i am trying as hard as i can to jack up this one SMW ROM (to make my friends go haywire) and i want to make a blue p-switch last for 2 frames. umm, which adress do i look up to find the number of frames a blue p-switch stays on?

Hi.

Um, regarding the answer to the question on how to make one's own tile animations, which tiles are unused?

Ever since I successfully made my first animated tile, I noticed that I accidently overwrote the two 8 x 8 tiles used with the kind of line guides controlled by an On/Off switch...

Wait, would that make tiles 500 to 5FF (except for 547, 557, 567, 577, 579-57C and 57E-5FF) unused?

I'm a bit confused here...

OK, 2 questions. One, can you change the number of hits an enemy can take? If so, how?

Second, is there an item that makes coins turn to 'used' blocks? I know it isnt a very technical question but I cannot find an item that does that.

1. I'm not very sure on this, but I think this may be possible with ASM...

2. Yes, Blue P-Switches will do the trick...

Im so stupid! I did invisible coins and then tried a P-Switch, and of course the coins came up. I hit another and they didnt turn into used blocks, now I know they have to be regular. Thanks Dark Prince.

yes, it is very possible with ASM, although finding the value that must be altered is not easy. Atma X found the rex's hp value at 197B8, and someone else found morton/roy/ludwig's hp at D1CD. you need a hex editor to change these values. hope this helps...

Hi. I have a question I wish could be answered, please.

When you rip a BG from a game so that it can be loaded in a program such as Paint or Imaging, what format do you have to save it in if you want to use it in a SMW hack as an ExGFX file?

There are 3 methods:

1: You rip the tiles directly from a tile editor into an empty ExGFX file
2: Save as a bitmap and import it to a tile editor. (YY-Chr supports this if you click on File > Paste snapshot.
3: Use the M16-7K easter egg in LM.

In the OV editor, click on View> Layer 1 Mario Paths. Now, use the Layer 1 16x16 editor edit them. Remember to save.
