Looking at those minimum requirements makes me want to cry. Seriously.

My poor three-year-old comp. *sniffle*

I know... thank God I upgraded.

Athlon 2500, 1 GB RAM, Radeon 9600. No way I can play with excellent graphic quality but even medium is quite nice.

Nope. That's what I had in January.

Mind you, it's definitely not the recommended system specs... but it's good enough to run anything on the market at the moment.

Of course, I have no idea why id allows someone to play in 1600x1200 with ultra quality graphics.

Maybe they have a system in the office that can run that at some sort of acceptable level, but what about 99.9999999999% of the gaming public?

More like NASA has a system that can do that.

It's right next to the shuttle command module. The on break dudes play it.

It's the same reason you could do that in Quake 3, even though there was no computer on the market that could've dreamed of doing that back when Q3 was released -- so that the game will look even better as newer hardware is released that actually has the muscle to deal with Doom3's insane demands.

Don't forget the 5.1 surround sound and 4x antialiasing...you'd need a bleeding edge comp to pull that shit off...like...3.4 GHz P4 and nominal specs to go with it.

That's true.

I see GameSpot gave it... well... 8.5. Of course, it's the classic GameSpot "Give the game a condensending review but still turn things around in the last paragraph" review. Hell, if I was reading it without looking at the score I'd peg it for a low 7.

MSN was going over the game as well today...they had a review on their site that I skimmed over...only the first page though...and they were having fun with the comp that they had...that's for sure. They had a preview of it on there as well.

C'mon...it's DOOM...what's not to like about this series...it's been around for years.

People are forgetting the fact that id said they'd make it more realistic for the player. Not that they'd make it so that the physics were precise and all the science made sense. If that were the case, why would a teleporter to Hell be found on Mars?

On Low, it runs on my computer, albeit hella choppy.

Me and my buddies are going to start building the "Death Rig". With the 3 grand I've saved up, now is as good a time as any.

My GeForce 2 runs it! I've never seen it working so hard, lol!

I have 1.4 Athlon, GeForce 2 Pro w/ 64MB DDR RAM. It's just about the equivilent of the minimum requirements. It's a shame it slows down to a crawl when there's an enemy on screen

The problem is that the harddrive is full...

Mine isn't so bad, but my video card just plain sucks; Sis 630/730 S. I wonder how I've been gaming for this long with this POS. Once I get a job, however...

Ahem...Well, I played it on my friends Radeon 9800 PRO, P4 2.4, 1 gig DDR system.

It is a very pretty game on High with a good resolution setting.

My brother got his new X800 XT through today. Ultra graphics mode experiences some slowdown, so not even bleeding edge can cut it yet.

Doom 3 is designed with 512mb graphics cards in mind, which aren't available yet.

Mind you, it'd be interesting to see what two parallel GeForce 6800 Ultras could achieve.
