| I want to make animated gifs for my layout, I need at least a free one that does not put any text on the pics I make like "Trial version" or something. Also it has to be able to save gifs. | Gimp can do that. There are official Linux and Windows versions (the Windows one is the port!). There's some unofficial Mac version somewhere, but it isn't maintained, and is only up to version 0.98. | |||

| Actually, the GIMP is very good and has capabilities on par with Adobe Photoshop, I just take it you don't like the GIMP? Microangelo has a trial version that will allow you to do some animation, and it won't put trial version on things. (edited by ChibiTaryn on 03-18-04 03:14 AM) |

| so far none are good GIMP=I cant find the option of making an animated picture or can only add the 1st frame of the picture i want, I can't put a different picture in the rest of the frames. | GIMP's like Photoshop in both ways. It has industry-standard editing tools, and isn't easy to use for a beginners. Just try to cope with it... http://www.gimp-savvy.com has an on-line book that explains many tasks. Including animation. Cool, I didn't know GIMP could create animated GIFs  I used Animagic GIF, I've had a shareware copy since 1999 (expired long ago, but I just change the date to get in) ... it doesn't have a lot of features, but does what I need it to  It adds some demo text in the .gif, but not over the image (open any of this board's rank animations as text to see what I mean), so it doesn't really matter ... |

| I neither new knew that with The GIMP too ... doing also animated GIF (and maybe even MNG, dunno know ) images As for myself, I'm using Animation Shop Pro 3, which was included in PSP7, when I bought it some time ago. Pretty neat, easy to use, but not as powerful as Image Ready for example. For my purposes it fits; I'm using only rarely text or image effects, so I'm fit with this program as I can align all frames really fast and create many animations in a short amount of time  |

I used GIMP for awhile, I uinstalled it becuse it took alot of space for me... I installed it on wrong harddrive.  I guess that I should download it and read some tutorials this time. Anyways, I usually go through with a combination of Photoshop, Paint (on occasion), Animation Shop 3.04, and Videomach II (in the case of mass amounts of cropping of frames to BMP)...makes it easy for some of the really really lengthy GIFs you might ever make. But bottom line case would be Animation Shop 3.04 to make the final GIF. |
