I've got a brand new GBA SP here... and exactly one game to go with it. (The "classic" edition of Zelda) I have the cash to get 2 games for it... but I don't know any GBA games that well. I've seen FF Tactics Advanced, as well as a "... of Mana" game (I think it was Sword of Mana, but I'm not sure ), and several other games from series that I recognize (Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda, etc.), and I have no clue which of them are good.... So, I'd like some recommendations for 2 games (preferably RPGs where I can easily save my progress), and some details about what makes those games good, please. |

For what it's worth, I picked up Sword of Mana but have yet to play it. I'm saving it for my hospital stay. It's supposedly a remake of the old Final Fantasy Adventure, which was a lot of fun, so it stands to reason that this would be good too. You may have played and beaten it on SNES (Probably more than once), but A Link to the Past is available on GBA. It's one of my favorite SNES games, and I can't see why the GBA version would be any different. You may also look into the port of Breath of Fire II. It was fun for the early going, then I let my friend borrow it and forgot where I was. Oops. Oh well. |

Ummm... The battle network series is KINDA like an RPG... Ive played 2 and 3... they were both pretty good and took me a while to get (Almost) everything. I would actually go for 2 over 3 though, because to even get to all of the secrets in 3, the other version is REQUIRED (Either that or you can game shark it). Though in 2, you need a friend to get the 10 secret chips. Yeah, I reccommend this game (series) |

DEFINITELY pick up A Link to the Past then. One of my measures for determining my favorite games (Particularly RPGS) is "How many times have I played through this game?" By that standard, Link to the Past is up there with the best of them..I've gone through it, probably at least five times all told. I suppose you may want to look into Yoshi's Island as well, just because it's Yoshi's Island. |

I can't stress the Battle Network series enough. I also recommend Metroid Fusion, or failing that Zero Mission. Both of them will keep you busy for quite awhile. And if you haven't played A Link To The Past, you've seriously missed out. Go out. Get it. Play it. It's the best Zelda game, even better than Link's Awakening, and that had a Walrus in it! I'm also a fan of the Advance Wars games, they're kinda repetitive, but the missions are interesting and definitely enough to keep you challenged for awhile. Failing that, I'd pick up one of the other remakes Nintendo's released, like River City Ransom EX, Yoshi's Island, or even Super Dodge Ball Advance (not nearly as good as the original though). |

Originally posted by Emptyeye I have it. It's definitely worth a buy. Great game. I doubt you'll be disapointed. What's even better is the fact that there's different classes you can be once you level up. If you keep going the way of strength, you'll change into a warrior type class. And if you keep going magic, well you get the hint. You can even mix and match. I forgot how many types of classes there are or what levels in what you need though. You'll probably want to research it first because the game doesn't tell you itself. You kind of have to guess. But yeah, good story, great gameplay, and just a good game over all. "Actually... no, I never played any Zelda game other than the original" Holy shit.... =-o That is definitely a must for you then. I've been playing that game since 5th grade (I'm 22 now) and I'm STILL not bored with it. It's the ultimate rpg/action hybrid game and it's a must own. I, and many other people, hail that as the best Zelda game ever created. You can beat the game, then immedietly want to play it again. Rare it is that a game makes you want to do that. Especially in this day in age. Most games you'll beat, then never want to play them again. Not this game though. Both Metroid games were mentioned already. I for one like Zero Mission more but if you do get one of them, you wont lose because they're both awesome games. I would pass on FFT:A because it's not nearly as good as the one on PSX. It's good, but there are better games you could get. Damn, I could go on forever. The Gameboy library is filled with hundreds of awesome titles. Hell, I believe that just the GBA library itself has more big name hits than PS2 does. You definitely have tons to choose from. The list boggles the mind. (edited by Legion on 07-30-04 12:04 AM) |

I'd definitely go with Grey's suggestion of Zero Mission or Fusion for Metroid. [checks his list] Mario Golf: Advance Tour hit it off relatively well in my book when I played. Huge amounts of things to unlock and definitely a large amount of replay value (there's even an RPG stat-building element as well). If you can find any of the Castlevania games, particularly Aria of Sorrow, I would DEFINITELY grab that. If you go for anything out of the Sonic series...pick up Advance 2 and Sonic Battle wasn't half bad either. Mega Man Zero series is great...I dunno if 3's out but I've played through the jap cart... Can't think of anything else right now...but that's my small list. |

Holy fucking hell, how could I forget about Castlevania? Someone please beat the shit out of me. Yeah, out of the three GBA Castlevania's, Aria is by far the best. Actually, I think that's my favorite GBA game. Some damn good replay value as well. I would have said Harmony of Dissonance but let's face it, the music is sub-par and you can beat it with your eyes closed. And AoS simply has a better "cool factor". |

Don't feel bad, I forgot about it too. I actually liked Harmony of Dissonance, it reminded me a lot of Symphony of the Night. So if you've played that, Harmony of Dissonance is pretty close to it. But yeah, Aria of Sorrow, while it doesn't have the Relic System like SOTN did, has plenty of neat attacks and a variety of equipment and stuff. And there's also that whole "really fun game to play" thing. |

Damn... too many good games... too little cash... I think I'll start off with Sword of Mana and Zelda, and move on to the others when I get more cash on hand. Thanks for the help everyone. |

Originally posted by Ranko Not yet. It's out in September in Europe and October in US. (Haha, we get it before you. Too bad almost no shops carry games like that.) I actually bought Mega Man Zero 2 a few days ago. I've already beaten it (the final boss was way too easy), but I'm still missing a bunch of cyber elves, about half the forms, and almost all the EX skills. There's definitly a lot of replay in this cart. It's harder than the first game (which wasn't especcially hard, other than the second boss), sporting some evil level designs and brutal bosses. Still fun, though, unless you're easily frustrated. |

Try Golden Sun. Old, but definate worth owning. Zero Mission is also a great addition, even though I beat it in 5 hours first time through. Yoshi's Island makes a fine piece o' game, too. I stole it from my friend, shh! *runs* |
