i'm guessing you want to use the background for your posts? if so, then all you need to do in your profile here is to copy that link because that field says "The full URL of a picture showing up in the background of your posts" and that link is the full URL...

if you use that picture, you better make your font contrast well with it if you are going to write text over it...

Please, for the love of all of us, don't use that as a background. It would be much better if you had some kind of non-transparent window inside of it (next to Squalls face) where your text will go. That way, we can actually read what you're typing.

Oh, and go to this thread if you need any further help on this. That's what it's there for.

If you're going to use that as a background you'll need either a light-coloured, large font or a BG window for the text like I have. (If you can get a transparent one to work that'd be especially cool, but those are hard to do without looking crappy.)
For the BG with font, put this in your header:
<table border=0><tr><td width=100% height=100% background="http://forumpetz.50megs.com/images/y6.jpeg"><font face="[FONT NAME]">

(Replace [FONT NAME] with the name of a good (IE not too thin) font, in quotes.)
And this in your footer:
</font></td></tr></table>
I think that'll work, I'm not sure if it'll span the entire field though.

For the text BG - header:
<table border=0><tr><td width=100% height=100% background="http://forumpetz.50megs.com/images/y6.jpeg"><table bgcolor=[BG COLOR] border=3><tr><td>

(Replace [BG COLOR] with a 6-digit hex number. Click the Color Chart link for a list.)
Footer:
</td></tr></table></td></tr></table>

Try that, it should work.

Agreed. Don't be intimidated by it either. It's really reallllly easy. And there's TONS of very good tutorials out there for you too. Try learning the basics first, like bolding and other text changers such as that. Then learn about making hyper links and the rest of that basic schtuff.

Oh, I'm not sure if it will help or not, but I taught myself html when I was younger by getting a free host (Like Angelfire), going to website, copying the source, then messed with it and see what it looked like after I uploaded it.

You can also just hang out in the Modern Art forum (especially that one thread I linked you to) and just read the hell out of everything. You'll eventually start picking up things and your knowledge will grow. But the best way to learn, is by doing it. Experiment and have fun with it.

Again, it's really easy.

Courses in it aren't as good as you actually taking the initiative and learning it yourself. Try a site like w3 Schools and see if you don't learn a thing or two off the stuff they have there.

Additionally, try bumming code off of people like everyone else does who tries to make a layout via View Source in IE. Load it up...see how it runs...experiment with it...see what comes from it.

It's relatively easy I guess...but for the majority of 'normal' people it isn't...but if you're on a board that's dedicated to ROM hacking...you better at least know the basics if not that then how to manipulate code.

I learned it at w3schools. It's actually very easy and makes a lot of sense, so don't be intimidated like Legion said.

Huh? Who told you that you need DOS to use C/C++?

Basic C/C++ programs use the command line. This is true for both Windows and Linux BTW.

But there isn't that much to learn about ms-dos, it's the simplest text-terminal ever. And if you have problems learning dos, then don't bother with C...

W3C is nice, but sadly the standard isn't followed very much. But there have been improvements lately.

You really don't need to learn DOS to learn C++.

One is an operating system, the other is a programming language.

The main obstacle in the path to W3 standard acceptance is that, for better or for worse, Internet Explorer, which spits all over the standards, is the most widely used browser out there (I stand guilty as charged of using it right now).

And while you don't need DOS to learn C++, most compilers are command-line based, as has been pointed out already.

Were this not a family computer, I'd be using Firefox right now. Because it is, though, it's easier and less confusing on my family to just use IE rather than try to have them learn something even slightly different.

Actually I found firefox much easier to use than IE. Mine has spyware on it that I cant seem to get off my attempts have been fruitless so when i open it it pulls up popups, so I only use it when I'm watching anime off this site cause you cant with Firefox, and I got the spyware from incorrectly typing a adress and it takes you to some stupid site. firefox usually when you mistype and adress tells you that site is unavaliable and stays at the webste you where at witch is my favorite feature. ^^
