Remember when games were simple? You press A to jump, B to run or shoot, jump over the enemies, and get to the end. Level 1 was so easy you could beat it in your sleep, but the game would get harder, until the last level which you would almost certainly not beat on your first attempt. That's how video games should be, but unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case as much anymore. I've bought a few new games recently, and each time I've been more and more disappointed. Kirby Air Ride gets good when you have alot of people around. If you dont have friends though... It still is quite good. Theres plenty of stuff to unlock, and for some reason, City Trial never gets old. This game is usually overlooked by people for some reason... I havent found too much wrong with it... MKDD... Well... its fun from the start.. then you unlock stuff... get good at it... be able to beat it behind your back... beat all the staff ghosts... yeah, then the fun stops for some reason. Havent played custom robo before... someone else can tell you about it. |

I'm thinking the same things about what you said about Four Swords. Almost every new Gamcube games can (or almost needs) use a GBA with it. You can never see what the game really has to offer when you don't play Multiplayer (looks at FF: Crystal Chronicles).

Get Custom Robo. Robo combat isn't my style either, but hell, I've had it since before you went on vacation and I still play it. Hell, it's my #2 played game, my #1 being SSBM. (edited by Kyouji Craw on 07-28-04 10:06 PM) (edited by Kyouji Craw on 07-28-04 10:06 PM) |

Well sure, when you have a GBA it's nice to have some bonuses that you can unlock by linking up. The problem comes when it's practically required to beat the game, or it's really hard without it. (Pok (edited by HyperHacker on 07-28-04 10:07 PM) |

Originally posted by DarkSlayaHaving played (okay, bought it used) Crystal Chronicles myself, I'm gonna have to add to this. WIthout a cable connected to a GBA, you don't even know what you have to do to get the extra points, and certain artifacts won't appear until you get a total of (number here) points between all players. In a multiplayer game, that's no problem because everyone's using their GBAs anyway, but playing by myself as I always do (I haven't got enough money for any of the cables I would need, unless they're $9 or less each) I can't find out what I need to do at all, so I just have to hope the criteria isn't "Don't use spells" or "Don't use focus attacks", because I'd be screwed in points if it was. A little note in the corner of the menu in single player would have been plenty sufficient. And really, multiplayer in that game could have been done with the regular controllers. Just have seperate columns/squares for each player with the buy/sell options for shops, and do the same for the in-game menus. See, it's easy. And, if they would have done that, they could have used the joysticks better to make you capable of at least two movement speeds (rather than always running; I like using the Rune Blade's Focus attack or a Blizzaga spell to get a sneak attack, but often I run too close to a monster and they see me) And they could also leave you able to use your GBA for other added features that were still there and wouldn't be as easy to put directly in the game. *If anyone was curious, my primary character is a Clavat equipped with a Rune Blade, a Mythril Haub., and a Makeshift Shield. I often find myself using Gravity, Holy, and the Blizzard group of spells because of the enemies I often run into. Interestingly, this entire post was pretty much on topic, except these last sentences. |

I didn't really see any problem with Crystal Chronicles, but then I never exactly played it. I tried 4 player mode with some friends, and it was insanely fun, but it's not like you instantly have three people to help you out all the time. GBA connectivity is fine by me, I bought a GBA before I got a Gamecube, and after that it was just ten bucks for a cord. I don't quite see the merit of it just yet, considering it wasn't really used well in Animal Crossing or Wind Waker, but playing Four Swords Adventures with one is great. A friend of mine once told me he'd never need to buy a GC so long as one of his friends owned one, since all they have for it are party games. |

...How can you find Metroid Fusion hard? I mean, to each his own and all that, but I thought the difficulty level was appropriate. Sure, there were some spots where I died a few times, but I'd rather have that happen than be able to go through 90% of the game in a cakewalk.

It's a bit like that in Metroid: Zero Mission. I played through hard mode, and all of it was more or less bearable right up until I had to fight Mother Brain, I still haven't defeated her yet. It's a bit of a kick to the pants when a game is easy for the most part and then suddenly you're presented with some insane challenge that you can't quite best. That actually happened to me in Final Fantasy X, I overused Tidus' Flee technique because random battles pissed me off so much, and I paid dearly for it when I hit Mt. Gagzanet (sp?). Not fun... |

Well, I've no qualm with the games I currently play. Snow board games and other XTREME sports titles have truly expanded and made themselves a hallmark genre. Truly something to be hailed. RTSs have come along way too. The first Warcraft for instance pales in comparison to modern games like Rise of Nations. Now a days the industry has to look for new ways to satisfy us, and guess what. We are bitchy and hard to please. |

This flash would pretty much sum up a good majority of HH's rant. Now I'm definitely not with the decent games nowadays...I mean I was lucky to own FFX-2 for the short time I did...course I go through ZSNES almost daily nowadays because there's more there for me than most other consoles...maybe it accessibility or maybe it's because the games today really have lost merit...I'm not sure...but the thing is...if you're bored...and you have the means...you'll play them. You know you will. And the GBA Metroids weren't hard unless you're slow in most other games. |

Grey: Spoiler: Don't worry about Mother Brain, just go through until you get to Mother Brain then backtrack before entering the area where you're locked in, amass missiles and health, then go save again. Go back to Mother Brain's area and stand on the podium on the right and blast away. The turrets can't really hit you from a crouching position there so you just have to worry about the lava rings and Mother Brain's blasts, and you can Screw Attack the lava rings. Really, Mecha-Ridley's about a bajillion times harder. 'specially if you got everything. |

Originally posted by Colleen Actually, I just played it again, and it was a lot easier. The reason being that I used the GBA instead of GB Player. (Metroid 2 was perfect on GBP, so I assumed this would be too. Interesting to note it also worked perfectly with the GBA's widescreen mode. It's a really flexible game. ) With the more precise control of the control pad (plus the ability to read the really small text, it shows up all blurry on GCN ) it wasn't that hard at all. Slightly harder than M2. (A 2-form first boss does seem like overkill, though. It wasn't that easy, mainly because I sometimes couldn't reach the top platforms, plus I ran out of missiles.) I quite like it now. (Also, the pause screen is exactly how I'd have done it, except it looks a million times better than I could do. ) I still say save anywhere pwns, though. It's a shame they took that out of Pok |

Craw: I know all about amassing missiles and such, it's just that I suck at the game, but I will try that. Man, it'd be SO much easier if she could be harmed by normal shots, I usually end up running out of missiles DURING the fight, even with full stock. Now I'm going back and trying to find all the stuff I missed. But can you even find Power Bombs before the Space Pirate ship? |

Originally posted by HyperHacker Wrong, all the dungeons except the tutorial dungeon are random, and pick different puzzels depending on how many players are playing. While the tutorial dungeon isn't random it still also changes depending on the amount playing. So, if you have 2 players, there will only be blocks that can be pushed by 2 people or more. It would of been cool if it was done the way Nintendo did it for the GCN with you controlling the Links at once, but in reality the GCN game owns the GBA game in all departments anyway, because it's a full game instaid of a "side game" paired with another, ala Mario Bros. I wonder if FS will be paired with Minnish Cap. If so, I hope they atleast are better then Nintendo with their Mario Bros. repeats, and maybe enhance it some or put in new items or levels. |
