Basically everyone I know, says this is the worst Final Fantasy game out there. I do have it though for PSX as FF Orgins. Yes it does have an akward system, attacking yourself to level up stats, etc. But I hear it's the first FF to introduce a "Empire". I played and beat the plain FF, but I hardly touched FFII. Should I play this game? Am I missing out on something? Or should I keep far away?

Other than that, I hear FFIIIj is an incredible game, the only FF that hasn't been released to the US ... yet.

Err, attacking yourself is just a way to cheat in getting stats

And yes, it does involve an evil Empire.. I like FF2j, you should at least try it

Regardless of what anyone says, PLAY IT GOOD! It still is good. I still don't care what they say.

Well this is the only FF game I haven't really attempted to play, but I think I may just give it a try.

I played through FF2j last April (on a NES emulator), and abused the stat gaining trick pretty badly (I got to 10000 HP near the beginning, which made the game easy until I got to the final dungeon) ...

It's not really one of my favorites, but it's not bad either ... but FF3j is definitely better, I loved that one

I've heard FF3j is much better than FF5. (Both having the job system) I did play a translated rom of it once, but it was horribly translated so I didn't play much...

Long ago though I heard on RPGamer.com FF3 was being released for PSX to the US, but haven't heard anything about that for awhile ...

(Sorry about going off topic a little ...)

That sounds quite groovey. I'm planning on playing through all of the FFs...

Sadly, I lack a) a PS1 and 2 and b) knowledge of emulation...

Though I've heard good things about FF2, if someone could fill me in on it...That'd be peachy.

Yeah, I liked the battle system, something different from the usual leveling up stuff seen in all RPGs. I got pretty far in it on my Origins disc, but still haven't beat it yet, or FF1. I need to sometime.

FF3 was planned to be released for the wonderswan colour, but the wonderswan colour sucks ass so they CANCELLED that idea :-P it's funny, though, 'cause this is from gamefaqs:
Final Fantasy III Square Enix Canceled NA

For those of you that don't know, the NA doesn't mean "Not Applicable" It means North America

But yeah, so FF3 has to this day NEVER been released in the USA... but the onion knight looks goofy anyway

Now, back on topic... FF2j... well, I beat FF1 from Origins.. then I started FF2 and well... ... hmm... well.. well I stopped playing... heh. I didn't feel like attacking myself to get a stat boost, so the game kinda drags on, but no, it's actually a rather good game and I enjoyed playing it, but I just wish that I had an airship from the very beginning 'cause wandering from one side of the world to the other gets kinda tedious after awhile. The game itself is pretty good, just not walking on the world map. But a nice part of the game is that you have access to the entire world map more or less from the very beginning... you just gotta be capable of getting through the spots on the world map riddled with the hardest monsters there are :-P But yeah, good game, you should play it if you're a fan of the series... part of your rite of passage. And you'll probably enjoy it too... I just wish there were a faster way to move on the world map early on. One day I'll pick it up again, but don't have the time now.

FFIIj is a really cool game.....

The stupid part I did in the game was in the last dungeon I was fightning aganist 4 Molebol (sp?) and he cast stone and I accidently save my savestate over it and thus they killed my parties

but so yea, it's a really cool game!

Um... I thought the WonderSwan itself was NEVER released in America. Bandai couldn't figure out a plan I suppose.

Funny how the best of the three NES games ends up being the one never released here.

I like FF2, and stop calling it FF2J. That no longer applies because the US got FF: Origins. Origins made the "J" part non-existant, because it no longer applies to Japan only. I don't care what the SNES says, that's Nintendo's doing, NOT Squaresoft. The US has received every game in the series as their ORIGINAL number, except FF3.

FF1: 1987
FF1: 2002 (WSC -> PS)
FF2: 2002 (WSC -> PS)
FF4: 1991 (Nintendo names it "FF2" to make it seem like we have them all still.)
FF4: 2001 (SNES -> PS)
FF5: 1999 (SNES -> PS)
FF6: 1994 (Nintendo names it "FF3" to continue the charade.)
FF7: 1996 (US: "What the hell?! Where's 4-6?!" Everyone laughs at US.)
FF8: 1998
FF9: 2000
FF10: 2001
FF10-2: 2003
FF11: 2003

Get over it people, the SNES is not absolute. The facts are there.

Anyway, yeah FF2 is good, hence WHY I'm making Jade.
