Well if you have a really powerful attack like Samus's you want to wait till the are spinning in the air so they can't block or dodge it. Also if you want to be evil do it while they are in the air off the platform so if they dodge they die. Another good thing is you se a missle then the charge shot.

I got this game as soon as it came out and most of my gamecube hours are on it. Like I think 70%, but now I am not sure because of the Tales of Symphonia hours.

I have 180 hours of 'Power Time'. And my friend is pretty good with Samus. He does try to shoot me in mid-air. I just use my cape and he gets the damage. He tries everything.
I don't use my cape on anything unless I know it's gonna hit. Link is more of a challenge to beat his projectiles. Still easy done for me though. I just wish there was a way I could see how good I was...

I know a skill that not many people have learnt, too.
Ever accidently caught a Beam Sword that's been thrown at you full speed? It's all about timing... Wait untill it's just about to hit, then just hit the Z button.

Has anyone done that thing where you call Fox's friends and they just say stuff, then fly off? You gotta pick Falco or Fox and play one of their stages. Just get away from the enemy, because you'll be forzen for a while. Just quickly push left and right over and over on the D-Pad. Usually it'll happen straight away, but sometimes it doesn't.

That Boomberang - Hook-shot trick sounds weird! I wanna try it, only my Gamecube got stolen by a guy who was living with us... I spent so much on that.

That sucks and yeah I have done both of those things.

I know a bunch of unblockable stratigies, so the only way to stop one is fight back. I do hate that cape a lot though. There are still a bunch of flaws with it though. If you have a fox or falco that is playing they sometimes jump down and have the reflector shield ready. Of course you know you can fire 2 missles really fast and use your charge shot right after the second so the missles will hit first and if you try to cape them the second will explode right on you. This will stun you for a second and allow samus to fire the charge shot.

Or you can just take the easy way and fire at point blank.

Dracoon: You fire two missiles and then a charge shot, I respond by jumping.

I'd also like to hear some of these unblockable strategies. I'll counter them, and it'll be fun.

Scatterheart: ... Most people can catch items, not just you. My nextdoor neighbor Todd can, and he's the worst person I know at this game. Your being one of the few you know who can catch thrown items only proves that people around you are hideously subpar.

Sure I can think of a few right here, but of course these are unblockable by if you block you are going to die type things. You can always launch a counter attack at the right moment and get away and start your own combo. I don't really think I am better than many people here at this game because obviously I haven't played against you. I am sure that you could say "I am Marth I used counter at the begining of your attack". Which of course would work, but most of the startigies I use are just to make it so that they can't block. I am sure if we tried to go against each other you would easily find way to avoid any situation I could put you in. I mean if you can do that I am sure you would have no problem doing my above mentioned feat.

Oh as for your two missiles thing that is so he couldn't block with his cape. Still if he is spining or had just used his 3rd jump he would be completely vulnerable to the attack.

Hideously subpar? Yeah, that sounds about right:

Remember when I said that I was participating in an SSBM tournament at my local mall? Well, me and Valcion entered, expecting to kick the crap out of some noobs.

First match we saw: Some little kid with a Pikachu and his little sister start ruining a top tier duo's day. That kid was good, he used the thunder attack in ways I've never seen before, taking advantage of its range and actually HITTING SOMEONE WHERE THE CLOUD BEGINS. He was dealing way too much damage to be button mashing. His sister was good, too, and even younger than him.

Second Match: Two words: Dual Kirbys. A pair of Val's friends entered, and everyone was wondering who they were using cause it had a pair of question marks next to their names on the rosters. When they pick double Kirbys, the crowd goes insane and starts cheering them on. They lost, but they put up one hell of a fight.

Few more matches after that, then it's me and Val's turn. So we get to the controllers, I pick Marth, he picks Samus, we're ready to kick some ass.

Our fight lasted exactly three minutes and 14 seconds, and only I got KOs, and they were lucky shots that came from him dealing so much damage that they had to fly away. I thought we were strong, But when I realized how good some of these people were, it hit me that I needed to practice against some people who were stronger than my friends. So the moral of the story here is aside from me wanting to tell how hard I got beaten, you need to fight strong people to become strong yourself.

Dracoon... make some FUCKING SENSE! And you didn't even give an example of an "impressive feat" of yours, so I can assume you don't have any.

Grey: Exactly. Speaking of tournaments, as I mentioned earlier, this saturday there's gonna be an SSBM tourney, and of course, I'm gonna enter as Marth. I'm expecting to do pretty well, based on who went last time, and who I lost to last time.

That was really hard I got down to 1 life 160% with Ganon and Samus still alive. both about 100% and I did the electric knee to samus and ganon tried to do the Garudu Punch. I dodged behind him and did an over Smash and I won.

I haven't been able to do it again.

Right there on the first page. I consider being able to fight 3 level 9s that are on a team impressive.

What I was trying to say is the startigies I have are for people that use the block all the time. It will quickly break there shield or cause them to take a hit. They are easily stopped by people counter attacking instead of gaurding.

Do you use the C-Stick for smash attacks or the analog stick + A? I used to rely heavily on the C stick but then I was told that even though the attack is faster, it kills your timing for attacks, so I started using the A button and I did notice a jump in performance. Now I only use the C stick if I need a quick sucker punch to throw my enemies off, and since I play Marth as well, usually his Up+B attack is a better combo breaker.

Um... thats not that difficult... you just need better timing than a 1 on 1, and manage your attacks so you distribute your damage evenly. Doing that you should be able to make it out without losing a single life.

@Grey: I never use the C stick, I don't like to move my hand to that region of the controller or it throws me off.

Today I also discovered how easy it is to play with DK! He rawks!

Well I guess you are better than me then. Try it yourself and see if you can win. It isn't easy since I do 10 stock, which might have been smart to mention while typing that. Oh and you have to remember that the computer learns as you do new combos and stuff so by the time I did that the characters were a little better off than what they started at.

Wow! I really want to compete in something like that. I want to see how good I am. Oh, and I never use my cape on any other jump besides my first one

I was pretty good at using Link, but I usually lost because I'm best at staying away with him. I usually pick at them while they're fighting the each other, then try to get the finishing blow in.

With Mario, I'm all over the place. I don't think I can improve at the moment on my jumping or dodging's timing.

SSBM is the best multiplayer game ever!

No, I never use the C-Stick. Not because it throws off timing, because I've always been far more comfortable with it normally. I guess because it carries over from my SSB days, and I still play a lot of that, as SSBM as banned at a convention I go to on account of riots breaking out over match results. Seriously

How does that work. If someone wins they win... You see someone hiding you jump over and kill them. I learned that they ussually suck, but they win sometimes. My cousin used to play like that until I decided that if he was going to stay out of the melee I was going to bring him into it.

I LOVE SSBM!!! I want to play it again now. This thread is giving me withdraws!!

(\__/)
(='.'=)
(")_(") Pika-chuuuu!!!!

It's fun sometimes just to fly all over the place with pikachu
up + B
I never use the C-Stick either. Same reason as Kyouji Craw's

I've heard of people getting angry when they lose, but c'mon!!
My friend sometimes got annoyed with me staying away, then he'd try to come after me, but I usually got away with minor damage, but still manage to get a few projectiles in.
I just got bored of waiting. The matches go much quicker with Mario than with Link

I took 4th in the tournament. Person who won was absolutely kickass with bomb jumps with samus, it was... amazing I *barely* lost to the guy who lost in the finals, but lost to the guy who lost to the winner in the second to last match. But that's just pointlessness. Point is I took fourth.
