Ok this is my new layout, it replicates the Harvest Moon title screen from snes. It doesn't look too great, does it? There are a few obvious problems.

The whole thing is a 3x3 table. You see those lon pieces of wood that stretch with my text on the side? It repeats once, producing 2, when I want 1. This is because the cells above it and below it are longer, so it neads to match up with their width.

Second thing is, obviously this table has no borders, but where the borders usually are it leaves a gap, which doesn't allow the wood to connect, and it looks gay.

If anyone can help me fix these problems that would be great, and comment on the concept if you like, while its in development.

Edit: I am also going to get a part of the wood image that will flow into itself better, for the outside border. The seperate images are a bit too distinct as they repeat.

Try putting "cellspacing=0" in your <table> tag.

Forgot about that. Cellspacing=0 partially removes some of the gap, and cellpadding=0 removes the rest of the gap. Also I fixed the repeating wood. I think this is the stupid way, but I substituted the repeat area by increasing the image dimensions, and making the other part of the new image transparent. It may be fixed, but the wood still looks fugly. I'ma going to take another sample from the wood in my screenshot that will connect and flow nicer in this layout.

Edit: I deleted the original wood picture from my image host so the border on my first post is gone.

The black/green alternating pixel thingy background you got the looks majorly annoying... and the border thingies seem to be missing (the corners are there). I suppose it could turn out nice if you fix those things.. keywords being: easy on the eyes.

Xkeeper doesn't like the squares either, so maybe I should get rid of that. It needs a little fine tuning, it does, especially the connectivity in the wood.

Geez, from what I see, the left side and the right side "planks" should be swapped with eachother. Either that or mirrored . Your shadows dont line up that well... so it kinda looks really weird.

I know, the plank symmetry and connectivity is horrid... I am gonna have to redo the border.
