I have no problem with the staff here. In fact I find most (all) of them fairly tolerant when it comes to flamers and spammers. In a heated argument, a lot relies on their judgement. I find their decisions in these situations rarely rash.

Well... Id say you put in a pretty good speech SS.

Most people dont have any problems with the staff here, hack, most people get along with them. I personally find nothing wrong with the staff (Even on their "bad days"). But if a person comes to this board and winds up making a big commotion, something has to be done. Otherwise, the users as a whole may be affected. Yes, I do agree with the fact that they -SOMETIMES- go a bit too far, but overall they do a good job with the pressure they have.

SS: I'd like to thank you for expressing your concerns in a (very) civil manner. That being said, I can see where you're coming from. The staff can sometimes go a little too far, or be a little biting in their comments, but as a whole, I believe the staff is doing a good job. They may be a little stricter than usual right now, but from what I remember, the staff seems to swing back-and-forth from lenient to strict gradually.

I ran a forum with a group of friends (none I know in person) for about.. three years? Something like that.. I still know them today, as we all migrated to our own private forum, but.. I digress.. To be blunt, you have to be a little harsh sometimes..

I doubt any of the staff here have any doubts that they are surrounded by "real" people.. However, like it or not, the average internet user is not very bright.. And I'm not talking about innocent ignorance, I'm speaking of blatant idiocy.. People who rant, rave, go on about the most inane nonsense you can imagine.. People like this, are very difficult to keep in order.. I personally, never use a curse online. (Ever) But.. I have thrown around a few "idiot" and "stupid" jabs before.. Does that mean I'm not in control with myself?

Rather, I think it's reasonable.. When you deal with people, day in and day out, who banter on yelling and screaming.. Refusing to learn.. You very quickly become short on patience.. In saying this, I'm a very patient person, and if someone is honestly confused, or innocently made a mistake, I'll overlook it without another thought.. However, a lot of people are just rude, and purposely try their best to annoy everyone.. I really don't think the staff should bite their tongues around these people..

And as for simple spam, well.. A lot of spam is stupid and pointless..
Yes, I know everyone has their opinion on that.. But pointless nonsense cluttering up a forum should be locked on sight, and if the moderator wants to mention it was stupid, they should.. It will teach the member something for the better in the long run.. Which brings me to my last point.. Moderators and Admins should be respected.. Not exactly because of the power they hold, but rather because they were given the power.. People aren't appointed staff positions randomly.. They are given these positions because they have proven themselves useful and outgoing members of the community. Such people deserve respect because they are indeed, good honest souls. Yes, there are exceptions to the above, (none here) but that's usually only found in "corrupt" forums.. None of that really matters though, so I won't get into it..

I suppose, simply put.. This forum is an incredible one, and I think the staff deserves a round of applause, rather than being questioned as they are..

Perhaps I should have removed my comments regarding Glenn. As I mentioned, this outburst of mine is not a direct consequence of his banning but, instead, a result of the nerve I've mustered after seeing how imperious and immature the leaders were in banning him. I admit that I do not know the whole story, so that may be an unfair judgment, but it makes no difference.

You can't judge the actions of the board based on one isolated incident.

Glenn has caused problems here before and was banned on the old board for acting immaturely. So when he came here and tried to pull that stunt again... well... We know how he acts. Delial knows him well and he's not going to listen to reason, so...

I'm not saying flaming him is the ideal solution, but we're also not going to pat him on the head and tell him to go away nicely with that kind of treatment.

Paid or unpaid, job or hobby, your actions as a staff member affect real people. Just because it is done on your free time, doesn't meant that it is a duty that should not be taken seriously. As I grow older, my free time decreases and I place more value on the diminishing chances I have to enjoy myself; your (once again, a collective "your") idea that this place and this job are a personal playground neglect to consider the fact that, though you may enjoy running amok, you are inconveniencing (at best) several dozen people.

We understand that our actions affect real people, but at the same time we have to do our job regardless. I really doubt that the Glenn thing inconvenienced several dozen people. More like the other way around.

If you were a staff member and had to stay on the board for an hour zapping someone who tried to re-register multiple times, you'd understand the frustration we sometimes feel.

And if an admin was running amok and abusing his/her power, it would likely be stopped quickly.

And I'd like to thank you - and all of the staff members who've replied, for that matter - for taking me seriously and responding in a timely and satisfactory manner. I do not intend to create bad feelings in any shape or form, so the thoughtful discussion and opinion sharing is really a lot more than I'd hoped for.

Thanks .

No, Glenn is an odd duck. His ideas have something to think about, but his way of presenting himself is one that leaves much to be desired.

Anyways, I have no problem with the staff here, other than me not being a tyrannical local mod who rules over a small portion of the board with an iron-fist of despotic wrath!

The staff here can get moody sometimes, but every human does. That is why I'm great, I'm not human. Anyways, I've noticed at every board I go to, minus the one where I admin (there are no people there, thus no problems) that there are staff-related problems. They can't be avoided, people have differing ideas, and stuff...And when people don't have the best relationships, well, staff problems can arise.

I've noticed that the staff here are harsh, but look at other big boards, they are out of hand with spam. If they wanted to rectify the problem, they would need a variable legion of mods. And that just is impracticle, thus we here at Acmlm's kill the root of the problem before it can really blossom into a really ugly and smelly flower.
