I'm sorry for bumping this up, but as the FF forum doesn't even have a second page yet, I assumed it wouldn't harm anyone.
I ordered it online (finally), so does anyone have some basic tips or neat tricks? Or is this yet another sickingly easy to master battlesystem?

neat tricks? um...don't got any...

the battle system is really easy to master and you have quite a bit of flexibility on how you arrange things...

Neat Tricks? Nope, not really, the game doesn't explain how you can get the uber Dressspheres very well though I've found.
Also, to get the 100% ending you have to do a LOT of work, speak to almost everyone. Never miss a thing, and press X in strange places.

Except after reading a friend's strategy guide it's downright abysmal how "random" those events are

50% skill, 50% doing the right thing in the right place at the right time.

Sphere break wasn't so bad...i guess you just need to be good with numbers?

as for blitzball...i'm debating whether it was a good thing to put it into the game or not...as I'm not really a coach type of guy

The key to Sphere Break is to use echoes as much as possible. Namely, keep using the same number of coins each turn. (I generally went for 3.) Of course, you'll sometimes have to break your chain, but the extra echo points add up quickly, so that shouldn't be a major problem. Once I started doing this, I found Sphere Break to be much easier.

Oh, and I'd also advise not trying to go for 100% your first time through. It's virtually impossible without keeping a bunch of strategy guides next to you. I had much more fun with the game when I just went around doing everything that I could find, not worrying about the completion percentage.

There's a new game +, so I don't see any reason to not replay it and then go for the perfect game.

Yeah, but I'm too lazy to finish the game at this point. FFXI beckons to me...

Oh. And yes. Thinking really sucks.

I finally got it by mail yesterday, and if you can ignore Rikku and Yuna's girly girl behaviour, this game is fun to play in an FF5 way; the story sucks, but the gameplay makes up for it.

It was good. It was ok. It was a damn Charlie's Angles flick with Square-Enix's name on it. It has women prancing around the world in scantily-clad uniforms fighting most of the same damn monsters as X, and way too upbeat for any kind of Final Fantasy. In an FF, the story is one of the most important things (it's what drew me in with FFVII). It's supposed to have card game mini-games (ala FFVIII and IX), and one badass motherf***er that wants to end all life as we know it, wether by a giant meteor or destroying a world connected to thiers. Blitzball sucks now (it was OK in X), and Sphere Break makes you do speed math, which is NOT allowed in anything but a great puzzle game. They did get the job system right (sort of), so I'm happy about that.

I have completed it though, as I have vowed to complete any and all Final Fantasies out there (or in the case of FFXI, play until the end of time). Playing X-2 was worth it just to here Rikku say "Oh poopie!". Don't take this game too seriously.

It was okay. Not much for a story. Everything makes up for it like a lot of people have said. The graphics help too. I kinda liked the upbeatyness. It's completely different from past FF's.

I got 100% on the second time. Barely, I didnt do the extra part in the Chocobo Dungeon at the Calm Lands. That didn't screw up my chance though. I tried it the first time but I screwed that up by not going to certain places and missing Crimson Spheres. I had the strategy guide . If you want to get it done in one shot you have to have that thing right next to ya. On the second time that's all I followed. There's some errors in it though . They're mostly errors about what's going to happen in a scene and it ends up not happening. They're not huge errors though so yeah.

FFX-2... is something I'd rather forget I played. I got up to chapter two, and found it to be the worst Final Fantasy yet. The characters were butchered; Yuna was one of the only characters in FFX I liked - Then they turned her into an overexcited Rikku-clone. -.-;

Sort it out, Square!

This game is sorta a love it or hate it, sort of deal. As many know, I loved this game, and saw it as more of an add-on to FFX and not a sequel or anything like that.

ditto...many opinions of this game I see either love this game or hate it adamantly.

for me, i liked this game...probably because I like Yuna and I have a penchant for chick flick type of stories the battle system was nice and the storyline was good.

however, i just hope FF12 will be mindblowing for me

After playing the game way too much, I have to say that this was the worst FF I've played. That doesn't mean it was bad, it just was bad considering it was an FF game.
It mostly were small things that annoyed me to no end, but the worst part was that the only really fun thing was the battle system. FF5 had that too, and since I played that right before X-2, the lack of story and character development made it extremely annoying for me to actually master the game.
This just was dissapointing after FFX, as the characters were likeable in some way or another. Yuna shouldn't try to be more like Rikku, that's for sure <<;

Crap I hated this game...

The only thing I liked about it was the battle system (chain attacks and dressspheres, not a bad idea at all), and the only thing that keeped me playing was because I was thrilled-curious about Vegnagun, the almighty ancient sealed weapon. But yeah, I was dissapointed about that too when I beat the game...

What majorly annoyed me was the stupid behavior of the YRP; the dancing and extremely overdone girlish stuff. Fuck that annoyed the hell out of me numerious times throughout the game.

But worst of all....

THE MUSIC!

OMFG what horrible music throughout the entire game! There's not one theme at all I did like. I don't want stupid guitar solo-battle themes. Not to forget all themes were extremely short which made them awfully repetetive very fast.

I need good, fitting music in a game. Good music makes my games a lot better than they actually are. FFX-2's themes were simply horrible, all of them.

I regret having wasted my time on this game for about 2 hours per week, whenever I was bored.
