There's been a problem with my computer today. It often shuts off, as well as everything attached to it (This is the second time I've tried to post this thread), and then restarts about a minute later, and it's also kicking me out of programs and such. Also, the other computers (which aren't networked to each other) that we have are having the same problem. Does anyone know what's wrong with it?

Is there some problem with the power in your house/appartment? That sounds truly weird to me, and I can't think of another possibility off the top of my head right now. |

Nope. The computers are at different locations, and everything else in the locations work. It's also taking out the surge protector, which is why it doesn't stay on for the 30 minutes (like it's supposed to).

Taking out the surge protector? That's definitely weird... I'd guess that it's a power supply related problem, except that it's multiple computers in different locations, so that's somewhat unlikely.... Does everyone use the same kind of surge protectors? Perhaps you got a bad batch of those? (I'm just throwing out ideas here... as you said, this is very strange). |

There's only one surge protector. The others run on normal power strips, but they're all under the same strange effect...

Actually, someone can close this now. There was a bunch of small problems together, creating a big problem which I've fixed...

What were the problems, and how did you fix it? (just in case someone else has the same problem sometime in the future.) |

Originally posted by Drag The surge protector was faulty, and I reset it several times so now it works again... The internet was continually kicking me off, it isn't now, I didn't really fix it... And everything was moving slower, but after the surge protector fix, another good restarting made everything back to normal. It seemed a lot worse than it was... |

Hmm...yeah, sometimes computers can do that you do...I wonder if a faulty surge protector is the reason for my computers problems... but anyways...you want this thread closed now...consider it done |
