Press release here. Damn! The wait's almost over. They'll be shipping to retailers beginning August 2nd. |

And it's about god damn time too. Yeesh, I remember when I thought Half Life 2 was going to be out WAY before this. I should slap myself. Anyway, I saw it advertised last week on Gamestop saying August and I'm like "No way..." LET THE CARNAGE BEGIN! >=D (Actually....LET THE PROCESSOR MELTING BEGIN!) I'll probably pick it up for a console. Don't want my comp to fucking explode. |

Any reports of an official... demo? If this new PC doesn't run it I'd be shocked and appalled. This better be a good game, because if it doesn't live up to expectations... well, it won't. By that I mean it's probably going to be a great game, but some of those fans might expect perfection... We'll see. |

...I wonder if it can go up against the modern FPS thought. And it should be runnable on most PC's, if you tune the graphics down. It took around ten years for the succosor to came out! That's quite long time... |

94% would be in the "phew" category, I think. I always worry for games that are in development forever - either they got it right or there were a lot of problems. |

Originally posted by ColleenThat's the thing I like the most about id: they wait until it's not just done, but done right, before releasing it. Some games these days feel like they've been rushed out too early to meet a deadline. And id's games don't usually have very many bugs, which isn't something you can say about a lot of game companies these days (and software companies in general). |

Look how many shareware games id released in 1991. Lots of them were good (especially the Keen series) but I guess it was easier to chug out 2D games than 3D ones. I like the CM (soon to be FM) series of soccer games, and since they cover a wide scope, they contain bugs - but the designers usually have a patch ready to go on release date, and support the product well. |

Originally posted by ColleenWell, the games also weren't nearly as huge as current ones are. CM? FM? And yeah, support is great... it's a real shame when I company releases a product, gives one or 2 patches to fix the most annoying bugs (if that!), and then drops the game cold (*cough*Sierra!*cough*). |

According to a .plan update by one of the big id guys, the demo will most likely be released after the game hits stores, as id focused on finishing the full game first. Also, the technological grunt needed for full-quality graphics isn't really commerically available yet. |

The requirements floating around are insane but those apparently HAVE been toned down somewhat. Basically if you have a decent graphics card and processor, you should be able to run the game fine at low detail - which still looks great. Of course, if you are a rich little bugger and have the cash for a 3 GHz chip and a high-end graphics card (even with 512MB)... CM = Championship Manager. FM = Football Manager (new series being made by SI, makers of the original CM games. Eidos now has the rights to the CM name but not the code.) |

Originally posted by ColleenWell, I think my processor should be able to handle it easily enough... my graphics card might not like it too much though. (Radeon 9700 Pro) Ah, okay. Is that "football" as in "soccer", or "football" as in the sport where 2 teams try to kill each other without weapons? Have any of you seen the scans of the PC Gamer magazine that were floating around? Those Hellknights are UGLY. |

Football as in the one where you're not throwing the ball. 9700 Pro should like it just fine. I choose not to listen to all the ATI vs. nVidia BS. |

Sweet! I have been waiting for this release for a long long time. Doom is cool! It sorta sucked on GBA, however, I was disappointed. These gfx on D3 look awsome but demanding... | |||

In the latest PC Gamer which I just tore through, it was reviewed. It got an 94, 2 points lower than Far Cry. The only knock was that it attempted at humor and failed. |
