This has to be one of the most illegal CDs Ive come by....but its also one of the best. Its a remix of Jay Zs black album and the beetles white album...if you like rap youll like this and if you liek original beetle youll most likely hate it though.

Ooh, this one's actually pretty good. Burned it for my gf, and she liked it. Not only that, but she helped to explain the ironies and in-jokes, as she is the bigger Beatles fan (like how the beat for "Change Clothes" is mostly derived from "Piggies", an anti-capitalist song). There's a few other remixes of the Black Album floating out there, and while they aren't really authorized, that's why Jay-Z released an a capella version--so people could do mash-ups and remixes like this.

I haven't heard it, but I like the name. "Clevuh" as G-Money would say.

There's only one thing that this makes me think of -

Since when the fuck did Jay-Z put out something called "The Black Album"? Isn't that sorta asking for it, considering that Metallica beat him to the name by about twelve years? Sure, Metallica's album isn't officially called that, but since that's what most everyone refers to it as, you'd think he'd have the sense to pick a different name

It was sometime in January?

I think...I'm not sure. It was supposedly his last album.

Yeah, supposedly. It's a very good piece of work too. I wouldn't consider this a hack off of Metallica anyway. If they didn't have an album officially called The Black Album, and are not expressing any qualms about Jay-z's choice of a name, then there's no problem. I'm sure not very many people are confused.

We got the gray album in the dorms about a month back. I think it's great, and I prefer the mixing of DJ mouse over the original production. It's a shame EMI attempted to crack down on it. The album is available on many web sites for download.

Other artists have come out with their own renditions of the Grey Album, including one with Weezer over Jay-z's vocals. Danger Mouse, as far as I've heard, has done the best job.

Why don't you be a good poster and, you know, list some?

The only "The Black Album"s that I know of are:

Jay-Z (2003)
Prince (1994)
Metallica (1991)

I believe there was also some 70's rock band that might have beat Metallica to the title as well. Still, four is not "a ton".

Right, a couple of corrections here....

Firstly, Metallica never called their album "The Black Album", the fans did. Technically the Album is called "Metallica".

Secondly, The Beatles' final album was "Let it Be", NOT the White Album They've actually released albums since then of course, the last one with any original contant would have been The Beatles Anthology 3 which came out in the late 90's, and it totally kicks arse

On a side note, I've just DL'd the album and it's excellent! I never thought Id like it but it's brilliant!

Presumably, Elmo's talking about the Grey Album, Sion.

And I SORELY doubt anyone would confuse Metallica's and Jay-Z's albums. Since that's the case, and no artist (let's face it) has exclusive drilling rights on ANY album title... who cares what Jay-Z called it? Didn't see the Beatles getting all pissy over Red Hot Chili Peppers releasing an EP called Abbey Road.

Why would it be a sidenote then? The thread is about the Grey Album so thats right on topic.

I just got my hands on the Black Album, but I gotta say that I like the Grey Album alot better, the beats are alot more catchy.
