I am sure all you Baseball fans like me are psyched up for the upcoming All Star Game.

I am wondering if any of you guys have comments about who shouldn't be there, who should be that isn't...etc.

The one comment I would like to make is:
What an Outfield for the NL: Sosa, Bonds, Griffey Jr.

I don't know who alls going. And there should be some kind of rule against that outfield...

There is a rule.

People with torn hamstrings can't play.

As a result, Beltran replaces Griffey to "even" things out.

but a 500 homer club outfield would have been nice to see...it looks like bad timing once again for griffey XD

At least he's playing WELL this year so there's no complaints.

Imagine what his career would have been like if he was consistently healthy... *sigh*

I too heard this morning that Griffey Jr. got injured!
Darn! Why does he have to get injured now!!
I was SO looking forward to that outfield.

And Lance Berkman replaces Griffey in the Home Run Derby tonight.
Darn darn darn

At this point, I think Griffey'll settle for being able to play period. ;P

Although his injury made way for Carlos Beltran to finally get into the game. He was voted in by the players, then got traded out of the AL, so he deserved it.

Anyway, the derby. Tejada beats Berkman 5-4 to win it all (!)... and in the second round, breaks the record for homers in a round. Impressive for someone who was just there because of Giambi's parasites.

What I don't like, is that whoever wins the All-Star game gets home-field advantage. Isn't it just supposed to be a for-fun game? Also, now, it's easier for people to get injured in the game, because they're forced to try...

I feel bad for Sammy. I saw what he did last year, or one of them, where he almost averaged 500 foot per HR, and he hit 12. Then when they interviewed him, he said he was disappointed!

Then this year he only gets five...poor Sammy. Despite the corked bat, he was good for the game.

Yeah, another ill-effect of having this game mean something is not everyone will go into the game. It was because everyone played in the All-Star Game back in 2002 was the reason why it ended in a tie. Otherwise, I'd think if the managers still had pitching reserves, they would have loved to keep on going.

Selig got mad because people just clowned around in it. I mean, it's for the fans, and for fun, but people were in a frenzy after that tie. Everyone (myself included) wanted it like in the old days where people would try.

true point there...i guess it will be a very long time before we see the opportunity of everyone on the all-star roster to be played...

makes me wonder, I saw the NL record in the all-star game and noticed they had two ties. Their second tie was in 2002, so when was the first one?

Holy moley. After one, the Rocket got PWNED. 6 runs on 5 hits, 2 homers.

I tell ya, the only reason he's good in the NL is that not many have faced him consistently.

Damn....what a first inning for the AL. It sorta reminded me of those days when the Marlins used to get owned.

Hopefully this game will provide some heat, I want to see a close, high score at the end.

I really don't want to see it as 6-1 until the 9th. Unless the NL ties it up and we get a few extra innings.

hmm...it looks like the AL will continue its unbeaten streak of the All Star Game..which would go up to 9 (since i think it stands at 8 right now?)

Pooooooor Roger.

Not watching (got in from class late and I don't want to join it midway) but the MLB All-Star game is really the only true one of its kind. The players can still play their game without abandoning hard, aggressive play.

At least you're getting some runs this year.

At least there shouldn't be a TIE this year.

But hey, given what I've gone through with the Expos, it brings a smile to my face everytime Bud makes an ass of himself. ESPECIALLY at the fans expense.
