Something in the range of $1000 (Canadian), ~2Ghz, at least 256MB RAM and 40GB HD. Any suggestions?

I found a few within the range you're looking to spend though: http://www.newgenpc.com/smoreinfo.asp?iid=141481 http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=34-149-007&DEPA=3 http://www.newgenpc.com/smoreinfo.asp?iid=204160 (1.7 ghz, but it's a Centrino processor and those are fantastic chips for notebooks) |

Laptops are so expensive, and I don't have a use for them... and that's why I don't mind using a desktop. Besides, there are actually school laptops that I could use.

If he doesn't have access to something portable, then I'd recommend it... I've seen laptops as low as $400, but they're pretty outdated... should I post links to them? |

BTW: My main uses for it would be ROM hacking, the Internet, basically everything you'd do on any other PC (and maybe watching anim |
