Well the other day I was thinking, a fun project might be an Acmlm's Board Viewer. A program that downloads the HTML of a page on the board and shows it in whatever format, sort of like a custom browser. (You'd have various options like turning layouts on/off; it wouldn't change your settings on the board, just ignore the layout code.) Well one could do this with some clever string parsing, but it'd be difficult. So, I thought maybe there could be a board scheme that uses an XML-style layout. For example: <postinfo> Username Title etc etc etc </postinfo> <layoutheader> LAYOUT HEADER CODE GOES HERE </layoutheader> <post> POST GOES HERE </post> <layoutfooter> LAYOUT FOOTER CODE GOES HERE </layoutfooter> The viewer program would use these tags to know where things start and end. (A browser would likely just ignore them.) Good idea? Crappy? Totally unrelated comment about tuna? On a somewhat related note, I'd like to make a real board scheme. How can I do it? |

I think the development of such a program would be a pointless waste of time you ALREADY have something to view the forum with.... a WEB BROWSER...... |

This is quite a intresting idea... but i'm not sure if it worth to develop. >.> But then if you do it, then go for it. I want to see how it works, but it dosen't mean that I wanna use it. |
