would be better for my new layout. Perhaps several other people's, as well.

If it's surrounded by a
with...say the class of "sigsep", we can use CSS to hide it from displaying.

isn't it easier to deactivate it in the settings?

right, just set the separator to "none", and then add your own separator at the start of the signature/footer block.

You guys are missing the point.

I mean it to be surrounded by <div> tags, so that it can be modified, duplicated, removed in a post layout via CSS.

why don't you make your own seperator surrounded by
tags, so that it can be modified, duplicated, removed in a post layout via CSS?!?

But people who don't have it set to "none" will see both the normal separator and the custom one

Adding tags around the separator would be possible, but remember there's still 4 possible variations of it ... "--------------------", "____________________", "<hr>" and nothing

I was thinking on this myself. If you don't mind it being a rather pain in the bum, you could just start your sig with an end comment tag and end each post with a start comment tag. (Though that could be a problem if you ever remove that tag from the sig, now all your old posts have commented out half the board. And my layout kinda uses that, so I haven't bothered.)
Maybe you should just enclose each one in a tag with a different class, so the dotted lines would have one class, the solid line would have another, and so on. Then we could specify settings for each one with CSS. (Should just be a simple matter of changing the actual sig codes the board adds.)

oh, so that's what that option is for. I thought that the separator was hard-coded into the layout at posting time, and that the option selects which one you want to use on your own layout.

actually the sperator toggles the display you avhe for everyone else...

so if you sert it to none... NOBDY has the sig seperator.....

which can become annoying if someone DOES have a text only sig for example...

so I just leave it set to <hr> an extra HR doesn't really hurt anything if it's not supposed to be there.... but it's better than nothing if something IS sxupposed to be there.....

the option Acmlm... should be for -your- layout... not what you see for everyon else....

I think it SHOULD do that...the current system is rather illogical...

Not like it matters to me though, because I never, ever view the board with layouts on (unless I'm logged out)...

same here. I certainly have the bandwidth for it, but most layouts tend to be annoying.
