AAAARGH! It's connected to my PC. It is a HP Office jet K80xi Printer/Copier/Fax/Scanner. It ALWAYS scanned before, and now it won't. Oh, sure. It PRINTS just fine! How wonderful. It won't FUCKING scan! All I wanna do is color my line art in photoshop! *sobs*

I believe HP Officejet comes with software that allows you to scan, don't you have that installed?

Also, I believe photoshop has an image import option under the file menu. I'm not sure what the exact name it is but there should be something in the file menu that allows photoshop to record input from a scanner.

I believe he has/had the software and drivers installed. Otherwise he probably wouldn't have been able to scan and print documents; maybe that is only possible without software using printers via USB.
Well, if you ensured it is no mechanical defect like a broken part or a dead laser inside the scanner part, ensure all cables are plugged in corrextly and reinstall the drivers and software the printer came with

What happens when you try? Does it give you an error message? Not do anything at all? Scan a completely blank page?

It gives me an error message stating that the printer isn't hooked up to the comp. But it is! I restarted and everything.... sigh...

So, have you tried to...

1) reinstall the software that come with the printer?
2) started the computer up without the printer connected to the computer (assuming printer is USB)?
