Hi Geeks! My name is Davy Crockett and i come from Munich, Germany. As a student of information-technology i am currently working on a remake of the good old SNES game "Secret of Mana", for today's PCs. Unfortunatelly it is impossible for me to get all the sprites used in the game. I used to extract the sprites by making screenshots (while disabling all unnecessary layers), and always moving the game forward for one frame. However, it is nearly impossible to capture sprite animations which can't be triggered by user-input, with this technique. I also tried to use "Tile-Extractors", but it seems like the sprites lay compressed in the rom, so none of these many utilities produced any result. So I searched the web for another way to get the sprites i need, and found this forum. I wonder if anyone has a helpful link for me how to decompress the sprites in the rom (this seems to be very difficult). I have no idea of the hardware also, so I need general information on the SNES architecture as well. Maybe someone here can help me, or even decompress the sprites for me. Any help would be wonderfull! Pleas post to this thread or send me an email to Davy.Crockett@multimedica-software.de Davy Crockett p.s. please apologize potential mistakes, as I am not a native English-speaker (edited by Davy Crockett on 06-23-04 09:52 AM) (edited by Davy Crockett on 06-23-04 09:52 AM) (edited by Davy Crockett on 06-23-04 09:52 AM) |

Lunar Compress should be able to decompress the sprites. It has support for a large number of games, including that one. http://fusoya.cg-games.net/lc/index.html ---Evil Peer |
