Yah, Sierra are now officially just a label of Vivendi rather than a company owned by them. Check news sites.

Tonight I shall hunt down the Kings Quest games, and reminince.

Or Half-Life.

Well, if we're gonna add game companies that are dying, talk to Interplay...they're also about to go pbthbthpbhth as per what I've read and a guy that works there.

I guess to say that 'all good things come to an end'.

I'm wondering when Square-Enix, Capcom, or hell Nintendo in general will die, to be honest.

This happens all the time, either they go corrupt or they get bought up. :/

This happened with Westwood, EA bought them up. And later closed it down...

Some of the employers works on EA pacfic now.

Sierra are dead (Well, in a manner of speaking)? YES!!

I bought Empire Earth, made by them. Sucked, slow, never worked, etc.

Perhaps it's my PC though

That game was a classic...*sniff*

hmm...the only sierra games i've owned are the nascar racing games. I do own halflife but sierra was more like a publisher more than someone who create this game.

I really don't care if a company gets bought out, as long as they keep producing the games.

Shame...I did like Tribes, though.

It's always the companies whom you think are dead that produce the best results. Take Working Designs for example, having not technically produced a game in a year and a half suddenly they come out with the Arc the Lad games. Or Westwood, bought out by EA, but Still producing Generals, which is a fine game in and of itself. It's no RA2, but it's good.

Myself I can't wait for THQ to die. And if Valve still exists, then so will Half-Life, you forget that Sierra's a publisher, not usually a developer. That said, I think I'll go find a King's Quest game or two myself. But I've never played Red Baron...

Doesn't look like it because THQ stock is going at $22/share...however, EA is going at ~$52/share... plus, THQ signed a deal with Nickelodeon it seems they will be sustanined by the market that watches Nick...

ergh. a pal of my dad used to program for THQ...he got layed off and is back working for my dad though. The fact that they have to lay off programmers sorta shows that they aren't doing too well, though this did happen some months back

how many percent of people were let go? if a company is comprised of 500 people and only 50 are laid-off? that is only 10%, which is a moderate amount of people to layoff, if they laid off 100 or more, then that is a hefty cut...

but anyways, i don't think THQ is going to disappear...

THQ... THQ...

The WWE games don't count as good?

I think that they have two teams of programmers - the one that works on the good, quality games and the one that has to churn out 10 GBA Nick titles in a year.

The WWE games are generally crap. The ones that they've released on X-Box anyways. I actually threw mine out...Well, traded it in, anyways. Which is taboo in my world.

Every time THQ makes a decent wrestling game, God burns a Quest 64 cart.
