Yes there is. Open Zsnes and the Rom, get to the part of the game that has the song you want, push the F1 Button, and you should see an option that'll Dump the SPC,... Click on that!

Thanks ATMA I always wondered why there was a 0kb file in my rom folder called spcdump. Sometimes when I press ctrl alt delete it shows a program running called spc dump, however i know it has nothing to do with smw, and it leaves 40mb files in my docs!! Anyway with this F1 thing can we edit music?

No. F1 only brings up a menu fo rwhat Zsnes ca ndo like Dump Spc's and Screenshots and changing the Screenshot format and Etc. The Best thing we could al ldo is wait for Blackhole to get done wit hthat Awesome program. From Experience If he succeeds in a mid/mod to Spc converter. just think of music possibilities. As a music Remixer I know people will enjoy adding almost Endless amount of music to the game. 255 Songs. [0-FF].

Accually, I've worked on a movie script for a movie called "The SMWtrix", which you can read about in my bio.

that spc dump thing is stupid the file is in to high of a bit-rate, and it will still play all the music, but it starts from where you hit F1

Now playstation3,
[sic] You seem to be so great at doing these things, write your own SPC writer why don't you.. Figure out the music format on your own, why don't you.. [/sic]
There's nothing that will do it
The ZSNES option does exactly what it says, DUMP SPC.. can you comprehend that? DUMP.. if it said EDIT SPC it's be a different story, but it says DUMP SPC.
Got it? Good...
(Oh, ninja shroom) You don't open SPC Files with Winamp unless you've got the plugin for it.

[EDIT] If I sounded harsh, Sorry.. though you need to tone down the "Know-It-All Ego".
[EDIT] Crikey! i might be thinking of orynider.. and if i am, apologies again.

you are, i was going to post about winamp being able to do that, but i decided it was pointless. It's kind of ironic.

Believe me I know VERY little about how this stuff works. Thats why I ask questions and post things that I think might work. The only thing I have ever made from scratch is a java script applet. If I sounded like a know-it-all it wasn't supposed to come across that way sorry.

Awful... this thread is becoming a bit flamy... well, I'll try to answer all important questions posted in here:

MIDI import - possible, but goes with an incredible amount of work.
MOD import - possible, and will be available in time. But not until I've figured out where in the dump the wavetable is located
music editing - will become available within the next two weeks. I'm still messing around a bit with song pointers and CallLoops.
Matrix soundtracks - as Solar Soundtrack becomes available, just make a remix. Write down or memorize the melody and write it in N-SPC.
Cooperation with FuSoYa - I see no point in it. LM is great, but there's still no reason to declare him the pope of the SMW hacking community or saying "anything will become better if Fu participates in it".

Have I missed anything?

Have fun,
Blacky.

Like, it wuld be good to have only sound data imported from a MIDI, not the instruments. This would make it NOT sound wacky, and i think it would be a lot easier. This way people could just import some matrix MIDI...

@MajinBlueDragon: Thanks, that'll certainly come in handy
@knuck: MIDI has a different track layout. There are MIDI ticks and MIDI events, so it heavily differs from N-SPC.
Explanation:

[MIDI file, transscripted]

##TICK##
set channel 5 volume to 1234
output C#4 on channel 5
output C#5 on channel 6
output G3 on channel 2
##TICK##
##TICK##
##TICK##
output G4 on channel 2
##TICK##
##TICK##
##TICK##
output G3 on channel 2
set channel 2 volume to 0
output D4 on channel 5

[N-SPC song, transscripted]

Channel 0:
Instrument 1
Volume 2
Vibrato 3 4 5
SetLength 123
SetKeyon% 6
SetTonevol 10
C#1
Channel 1:
Instrument 7
Volume 8
Vibrato 9 10 11
SetLength 234
SetKeyon% 3
SetTonevol 2
C#2
...etc...

The problem consists mainly of transscripting the MIDI stuff to SPC. I'm no good at algorithmics

@samuraimushroom: Yeah, you started kind of high-level discussion

That's midi format 0 , there's also 1, which is multi tracks, one for each channel...
but you'll probably have the same trouble with each one heh.
I,personally, from my study of music formats, would find MIDI easier to convert.. but I'm the more algorithmitic person (I love algorithms!), and this is just my view.

I heard MP3 to MIDI somewhere in this thread.. shame on you .
