I was wondering what got you folks into manga and anime?
Personally I used to hate, and I mean HATE anime. I was mainly being ignorant and (sometimes it still is annoying) The faces they make are just retarded. However, I started to give it a chance when I watched Trigun and I was captivated by just how damn cool it was. Te next thing was buying samurai deeper kyo (which is still my favorite manga). But what really got me into anime was the love of my life Aki. I now currently have every episode of Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Chobits, Outlaw Star, Interstellar 5555 (and I payed for them all) and I have 23 mangas. Oh yeah and Everybody liked Pokemon and Digimon so those dont count.

Seeing Kenshin on children's tv on sunday mornings.
It grew into a little tradition between me and my little sister, and we both loved rooting for him and his amazing fighting skills

Well, I had seen anime a few times via DB and DBZ...but I think what really got me into it was a friend of mine showing off Ranma

Sailor Moon.

Yes, it sounds INCREDIBLY nerdy and... stuff... yeah... but that was pretty much my first exposure to it that I knew of. I had seen some older animes when I was a kid, but I didn't even know what "anime" meant back then, of course.

So when YTV started showing it, I watched ready to write it off... and then watched again.

Dragon Ball came later - you know, the old 13-episode version. *chuckles*

This place, along with Valcion.

I saw some of the threads, looked some stuff up, and it looked cool. So I asked Valcion for some good anime, and things just went from there

I saw a few eps of Dragonball when I was a kid. Then in 1996, when I was 16, a friend of mine let me watch some Sailor Moon (Japan version) as well as some others. Then it wasn't until Hiryuu got me into InuYasha, that I started to watch and collect a lot of anime. My collection is still growing. I mean, before then, I used to watch Sailor Moon, DBZ, Rayearth and a few others, but now it's more than ever before.

I have a few Sailor Moon manags, stolen from a bookstore by a friend who gave them to me back in '98.

If I can remember correctly, it was probably Trunxy who first encouraged me to watch DBZ, and it sorta took off from there. I pretty much discovered manga on my own, once I realized how affordable and easy to find it was.

Yes, our ever so l337 otaku was into DBZ at one point, as we all were. Heheh...

Yes I was. I started watching the show when it first came out in America and I had loved it until near the end of the Cell Saga where I had a love-hate relationship with it. I basically knew the plot beforehand but the way things were done were beginning to disinterest me.

That's about when I ditched DBZ and became more interested in the original Dragonball. However, I still listen to Kageyama singing "cha la head cha la" on my winamp.

For me it was DBZ to being with.... Then I watched some Sailor Moon episodes; didn't like it that much, but it was better than being bored like I usually was at the time.
Later on, I saw a few Cowboy Bebop episodes... then I found that Love Hina dating sim on Newgrounds, which made me go find the series... and that's pretty much it

I don't watch much anime, but it's still cool, and if I had more time to look for it, I'd probably watch more of it

I remember my friend Nick got me into it, I had seen stuff like DragonBall Z on Cartoon Network and watched it a bit, but when he asked if I had watched Gundam Wing, I gave it a try and liked it a lot. A few years later I developed a fervent hatred for DragonBall Z, and stopped watching for a while. Then I got a cable modem.

Nowadays, thanks to being shown a little thing called Animesuki.com, I have to regularly clear out my hard drive in order to make room for my latest download.

Heh I remember flipping threw channels I think it was the summer before entering 9th grade and I found Gundam Wing and I thought it was kinda cool so I watched that. Then they played Tenchi so I watched the Tenchi's and from then on it grew. I should just buy the anime but I'm not that rich with money so I just stick to the TV and them being dubbed. I d/led a few Trigun episodes in Jap before but that was back when I had DSL.

I saw a few anime, samurai troopers and sailor moon, but i didn't realize they were anime at the time I watched it. Then came the anime club at my high school and I joined that and I saw Ah! My Goddess. From there, it moved to Love Hina and it really went off from there

Card Captor Sakura. Watched a couple eps out of boredom, and realized it had an actual plot line, which is more than Amercian cartoons. The characters intrested me, and mixing magic with the cuteness that is Sakura locked in my love of that anime.

I started soon after watching any anime I could find on TV.

First it was Sailor Moon, i've been watching that for years.((I just bought Sailor Moon S in original Japanese! w00t!)) but then I watched Dragon Ball Z. Well, my bother and I wanted to get ahead of the game, so we went to Suncoast to buy the tapes, and I saw a whole rack of what i refered to as "Similar Stuff" ((I was only 9 at the time)) and so I picked up Princess Mononoke as well!

Japan being my native country, I was practically born watching anime...
I watched Dragon Ball and some really old cartoons I vaguely remember.
Used to watch Astroboy when I was really young.

I've always been addicted to anime; I love Trigun and the Gundam Series.
Although Cowboy Bebop had a very limited number of episodes, it still has a high rating in my book, for the plot, great visuals, and the jazzy atmosphere.
I really like Case Closed; figuring out how people got murdered while watching the show is fun to me. I love the ironic surprises in the show.
