HyperHacker, I'm having the same problems. Yahoo is tons slower and gmail simply does not work on my older OS. That's why they're having invites though, it's beta version, it's just not ready. It seems like something I never heard of is just offering 1GB of space to everyone for the hell of it, that they will screw me over in the future. Heh, a friend of mine found a site that offered a TB of space. I mean, come on people. |

gmail (Atleast the login screen ) and yahoo works fine on my comp. I'm on winxp and firefox. Don't see why it won't work for you. And if you don't have javascript with your browser I don' t know what, you might aswell go with lynx.

Well for me at least, it says that the website does not exist. Jesper said it does work in Mozilla, so more likely than not it's just a problem that I have.

W00t! Gmail works now. (Although, there's no way to delete messages. ) [edit] Oh, yeah there is. I just didn't see it tucked away in there. (Seeing how you have to move it to Trash first.) hyperhackerALLSPAMMERSWILLBESKINNEDALIVEANDDUMPEDINTOAPITOFSALT@gmail.com. Though I'm not making that my official address until I know it's reliable. Ashley: ...Re-install Mozilla? (Your preferences should be saved if you do so.) I wonder if Colleen@gmail.com is taken yet... probably is. But something like that would be sweet. You know... personal, unique among 56,000,000 other addresses... |

It's nice being able to register a name, and the first one you want is available. Not like most other just-about-anything-you-sign-up-for online, where you end up having to use a name like 'hyp3rhax0r4564224

Yeah... Once I actually buy some webspace, I'm going to make a little FAQ about who I am and am not. For instance, as you can see in my profile, I am NOT the Emptyeye on AIM. And randomly, I was very upset to find that someone had gotten to "KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAN" before I could. Silly GameFAQs fads. |

Kitten Yiffer - Well it depends really. If you want to give it to your family/friends, I have no problem with that. But I will ALWAYS accept Gmail invites. I'm not one of those people who will turn around and make $50 off it on eBay. (...And if I did, I'd give you part of the cut.) |

that some times pisses me off... that some of my desired user names are too small...but often they are too big. I guess they have to save space but I dunno. I guess that 6 to 30 range is better than 6 to 12... oh yeah, microsoft is planning to upgrade hotmail to 250MB of email space |

I hate the whole Gmail thing because it watches what you look at on the web and then gives you advertisements based on that stuff. So if you wanted to look up unclean things, you would be having unclean ads in ur e-mail.

I hadn't seen so many ads actually, the only ads appeared with the "welcome to gmail" mail. And I just invited my sister, she seemed happy about getting it. I have two invites left, but there is three people who requested me to invite them... :/ |

Originally posted by RavenXUm, no. It serves up ads on some of your mail if they have certain ad potential. Let me reiterate again - THIS IS A MACHINE SERVING UP ADS. NOONE LOOKS AT YOUR MAIL. Your mails land on about five different machines on average when you send a mail with any mail service, web- or server-based. This is just another step of processing done in Google's servers. In fact, if you're worried about privacy, you should just fly over to the person you want to talk to, with a tin foil hat atop your head (someone might be a mind reader on the plane, right?) and whisper your arrend into the person's ear. That's privacy. You're not coming anywhere near that with any web technology for communication unless it's encrypted, which would need to be used on both ends to be effective, which is a bitch if you want to talk to anyone. |
