What do you mean, finally? It's only been mentioned, like, this week. Jeez. O.o''

By the way, Kasumi, I noticed some little flaws with a few of your ranks... Example; Locke doesn't look right because there's a line that appears and disappears at his feet...

Also, I'd have to question your choice of using some FFIV ranks over the better quality VI ranks, such as Bahamut and a few others. If they're gonna be put up, let me take a good look at all of them...

...Did you make them using screenshots taken with Zsnes?

EDIT: Ok, after a look through, a few points... One, alot of those ranks could be easily animated... For example, Neko. Or even the Mantis Ant.
Strago is another one that appears to have an error in it's animation.
Red Mage isn't a Red Mage, it's a Red Wizard. And why on Earth have you not got a Fighter, Thief, Black Belt and White Mage rank? Come on, if you're gonna have a Black Mage...
Also, why the heck is Cannon Man higher than Bahumut? And Gau higher than Esper Terra? The ordering is a bit weird, in general...

EDIT EDIT: Sorry, I don't mean to be an arse or anything, it is good work, it's just... Yeah, I'm just pointing out improvements. ^-^

Thanks for the comments, guys

I didn't get them with ZSNES... Lots of those ranks I've had for a long time on my server anyway from the old Square Moon forums. I wanted to have a range of sprites, because I didn't want to have soley FFVI sprites there... The art from the other games gives a nice contrast.

There's also Twinhead in there from Bahamut Lagoon... He looks cool and, I don't know, just seems to be my favorite.

I haven't seen the problem with Locke, I'll have a look
Some of the ordering is weird after I added a few more ranks. I think Esper Terra was on a round number until adding extra ranks pushed her out a little...

Oh, and the Red Wizzard... I admit I haven't gotten around to playing my copy of Final Fantasy Origins yet... A few of them I took the file name for the name If Acmlm's happy to for me to make a few additions and modifications at a later date, I'll fine tune it

Probably some script, or not... I always have been wondering how he is doing it.

One week left of school for me, and it's my birthday in two days... thought I still have little left to do in school.

Still hadn't finished the GDI campaign on that one, thought I have finished the NOD campaign.

And I already have planned making the Flamethrower first as rank.

Jesper made me the script. Basically I...

1) Copy/paste the ACS values into a .txt file.
2) Calculate the monthly points.
3) Copy/paste the result into the script.
4) Copy/paste the script output into a post.
5) Edit the title.

5, maybe 6 minutes max if I'm not distracted.

I think it's time we all stop bugging Jesper for help. You got him working on your blog, and this acs thing. The colors, it's obviously by him.. the way the greens fit nicely. It's about time we start figuring these out on our own and leave him alone. He's just one man, and you're acting pretty selfish, Colleen.

Hey Fyxe, since you like pointing out everything, wanna teach me Image Ready? XD I USED to know how to do this crap, but now I have no clue.
Also, for speed, what value would I put in? Is there some universal speed number the animated rank sprites use? Isn't there a limit to how fast an image can be before it looks screwy online? I'm tarded.
Also, what's the best (windows) emulator to use for ripping NES sprites?

I fully expect to do terribly for the rest of my time here. Full-time job > me.

On the plus side, I'll have money for the first time in forever.

Maybe I'm missing something here.

From midnight one night, to midnight the next night ... if I start with a lot of posts at midnight, they all count for the next day

But I haven't done this too often, and that's only when I get nothing from entering the posts before midnight ... and only when I feel like it

you gotta weight your priorities. Is a full time job really worth it if you can't participate in the ACS?
New job, eh? What is it?

Well, I'll be able to participate, just not like I used to. It's an 8AM-4PM job, with about a 40-minute commute, meaning I'm waking up somewhere around 6:30AM EST.

And I officially have work through a temp agency, but the job itself involves preparing things for shipping. It's $9/hour, Monday-Friday, so if I'm doing the calculations right, I'll be taking home about $300/week after taxes. My basic plan is that I'll put half of it away toward paying off college loans (Or precisely, paying back my parents for paying my loans ), and the rest will be saved up after expenses like gas.

I think he is using Fce Ultra for that.

That's the best NES emulator for Windows, but i'm not sure if it good at ripping sprites...

I don't actually use ImageReady, although I suppose I could. It's not much different from Photoshop itself. I just use a combination of MSPaint (to move the sprites around easily and group them all together and stuff like that), Photoshop (to save the sprites as .gif files and then add transparency to the files), and Microsoft GIF Animator to... Well, animate. But there are plenty of animation programs out there, I doubt any one is particularly different. I think ImageReady does animation, yes?

Right, once you have your sprite taken with a screenshot, or in some cases ripped with YY-CHR or something then coloured to the correct pallette by using a screenshot to get the colours (lots of messing about with the Eraser tool on MSPaint), then you've got your sprite, you make sure the background colour is not the same as any of the colours on the sprite and copy it (if it's a complex animation, you're likely to have to copy some of the surrounding area... For example, if the sprite is a character standing still and swinging a sword, you'll have to make sure you get the size of the area right so the rest of the frames have the sword in it and so Link doesn't move... Yipes, that was long winded but I expect you understand that).

Then, I put it into Photoshop, choose Save As (or Save would work too, I guess), and save it as... Um... Goomba1 or something. I just choose all the default selections when doing this, although I suppose you can change 'black and white' to 'none'. But keep the transparency there. Then I do the same with the other frame of animation (Goomba2... Lucky most Goombas only have two frames, eh?). Then, I open both those two new files and select 'Image', then 'Mode' then 'Color Table'. Then select the Eyedropper on the right, then select the background colour, and voila, transparency. Sounds more complicated than it actually is. You can do it in less than ten seconds.

Now, for speed... Depends on the animator, but on ImageReady the shortest time you can put in that's registered is 0.06 (or just 6 in Microsoft GIF Animator). Any faster and it'll just end up looking like a higher delay like 0.10 or something. In other words, it'll look screwy.

For a general rule, if you want accurate timing, you can increase the frames on Zsnes using the F1 menu, then multiply how many frames each part of the animation takes up by four. For example, the Goomba takes four frames before it switches it's feet around. That amounts to a delay of 16.

As a rule, I keep my animations using even numbers. It's just easier that way.

Use FCEU for NES sprites. It's not perfectly easy but it works fine, just pause at the right times and take screenshots. You can't increase frames in the same way as Zsnes though, so you have to make more of a guess about the timing.

Whoa, long post. I think I made alot of that sound more complicated than it really is, so don't panic or anything.
