This has got to be the best thing I've seen since Mario Adventure and FuSoYa's SMW hack. I only found one bug so far. In the stage you collect coins to have the red coin appear, if you head back to the left (the beginning) after collecting some coins, the meter shoots back up to the 70-something you have to collect. I knew something was up when I had 40-something left and had collected everything within the stage.. heh... Hammer Luigi. Some suggestions I'm sure you're already working on. Make Raccoon, Hammer, Takooni(?sp), Frog Luigi, look more like Luigi. I keep thinking their Mario (except Raccoon, because he's green). Level design is really good, mixed with the ASM, makes it even better. Heh... think you might get in a magazine for this one as well. |

WOW!!! EXCELLENT!!!!!!! GLITCH REPORT: This is not a major glitch, but I thought I'd report it anyway: If you leave the title screen running too long, it attepts to display the DarhkHax logo again, but the GFX is kinda sorta screwed up... Overall, Great work! PS: About the level time issue, I think it's fine as it is. I never came close to running out of time, even when exploring. However, if you plan on increasing the number of secrets or level complexity, you may want to consider adding a few extra seconds (50-100), but otherwise, leave as is. |

Originally posted by Chill Penguin Aha, your the first to find this, thanks for the report! Originally posted by JefF Another first glitch report. Thanks for the info! And due to popular demand, the next time you play the hack, you'll get a nice little Start + Select level exit hack on levels you've beaten to play with and levels that you beat WILL save! (though world backtracking won't be possible :/) |

Will a certain number of red coins have to be collected before continueing to the next world? If not, what will be the point of finishing every level for the red coin? I know, they're stupid questions. My thoughts were, you collected so many coins you get a different "code" or something after beating the game. Unless the first question I had was answered "yes". Sorry for my 2nd most Engrish post. |

Originally posted by Chill Penguin Oh, getting more red coins will definitely have it's perks and I have something special planned for beating the game under certain circumstances But until then, there's no real reason to beat every other stages other than to look for secrets and for the fun. This game is meant to be non-linear, so you may choose 1 path one game, then take a different path in your next game. (edited by DahrkDaiz on 06-20-04 04:32 PM) |

Bug report: On the 4 level (I think) on the bottom path where you collect coins, if you enter the last door, you will start under a platform that goes to the right when you step on it. However, sometimes when it reaches the end, it's graphics will glitch up. Oh, BTW... Have you ever thought about trying to replace Kuribo's Shoe with Yoshi? I have been asked that multiple times and I repeat: It's not possible. The code for the Kuribo shoe and the code for Yoshi are totally different. Besides, I hate Yoshi

Make Raccoon, Hammer, Takooni(?sp), Chill Penguin, a raccoon and a tanooki (well, "tanuki" if you want to be a spelling expert) are the same. Though I don't think real tanuki can fly... |

And even in Japanese mythology, they're not the same thing. Tanooki's are mythological raccoons that (like many animals in Japanese tales) can shape shift, something a regular raccoon cannot do.

So the Tanuki suit is from Japanese mythology? And all this time I thought it was from Japanese Go terminology. Of course, now that I look it up, I realise the two are spelled differently. Still, the Tenuki from Go resembles the Tanuki suit from the game to me. The move is when you play far from where the game was being played a moment ago, sort of unexpected and random. And the Tanuki suit seems rather unexpected and random to me as well. Anyway, this is a very fun hack. I found all three dungeon exits before you posted the way to the big secret one, too . And now I'm going to go do that coin gathering level, now that I know that the reason I couldn't win it was a bug . You've managed to make a completely new game out of Mario 3, and I must say this one is much better. I can't wait to play the finished one. Keep up the great work. |

I think of the "Tanuki" as... a flying raccoon that can change into a statue. Of course, I never actually knew about the tanuki... very interesting.

This is to make sure you can encounter the bug with the coin counter starting over that I mentioned earlier. You must go through a door first. The first brick in the level, immediately to the left of it, the counter starts over (decided I better clarify that). The reason the glitch with moving block occurs is it switches to gfx of the big ? block at the bottom right of the level. I only encountered it after I hit it.

His ISP also happens to be located in Japan. I don't believe he was trying to correct anyone. Just a misunderstanding. |

Well, the guy wanted to know how to spell/pronounce "tanuki", so I thought I'd help him out! (Though I am aware that in the US, that goofy looking suit was spelled "tanooki".) I'm talking about the little critters in the real world, not the leaf/tail and suit that Mario can acquire. And DahrkDaiz, I never even thought about the connection between the shape-shifting tanuki in mythology and the fact that the Tanooki Suit can shape-shift into that statue thing! That's cool; thanks for pointing that out! Squash, I'm terrible at go and had never heard of the "tenuki" move. The word's resemblance to tanuki is surely a coincidence. |
