If you mean 9 x |sqrt 20| ^ 16, then 2304

9 X (sqrt2)^16 = 2304. (9 X sqrt2)^16 = 4.74 X 10^17. There are two separate answers here, depending on your order of operations. Since it goes PEMDAS (parentheses first), the answer depends on where the parentheses lie. |

Another point for Grey, he had both answers... Scores 1st. Grey-12 points 2nd. Kirby all the way-7 points 3rd. NSNick-5 points 3rd. wolfman2000-5 points 5th. Heian-794-4 points 6th. Emptyeye-1 point 6th. RavenX-1 point 6th. Slash Dafter-1 point 6th. Xkeeper-1 point 7th. Teddylot-0 points Question 38 (1 point)- Find the surface area and volume of a sphere with radius 28. |

The volume is 4/3 pi r^3, or (4/3) (pi) (28^3) = 29269 1/3 * pi (in decimals, approx. 91952.32) The surface area is 4 pi r^2, or 3136 pi (in decimals, approx. 9852.03) |

What is the probability of getting a green football (assuming you get one randomly) You know, that's really an overproduction, if you ask me. |

1300 / (1300 + 423472 + 5482394652 + 4257834895723) ~= 3.053 x10^-10 or 1 in 3,275,679,661 Assuming, or course, that "normal footballs" are brown and do not include green. I seem to recall a college football team years ago wearing uniforms with footballs on the front to disguise who was carrying the ball. The opposing coach thwarted them by using bright red footballs in the game, insisting that there were no regulations on the color of a normal football! Note that for an approximate answer you can just ignore all but the green and normal footballs, since normal ones are so frequent. This approximation also gives 3.053e-10, but is ever so slightly higher when more decimal places are considered. Triangle 1: sides 25, 25, 35 Triangle 2 (putting the 30-degree angle opposide the 10-unit side): sides 10, 10sqrt 3, 20 Triangle 3: (assuming the side 5 is opposite the 36-deg angle again; solved using the sine and tangent of 36) sides 5, 6.88, 8.503 |

I don't think I could draw these things in ASCII considering that the angles have to be exact. But the lengths of the three sides unequivocally determine the shapes/sizes/angles of the triangles.

Um... for that to be correct, I need angles also. Solving a right triangle means giving all sides and angles. |

Triangle one: 25,25,25, All angles are 60 degrees. Triangle two: 10, 10sqrt3, 20, angles are 30, 60, and 90, respectively (as in opposing the side respective to it). Triangle three: Sides 5, 6.88, 8.503, angles 36, 54, 90, respecitve in the same manner as triangle two. |

Grey, it's solve these Right Triangles. Remember that? Number 3 is right, the other two are wrong. |

OK then, Triangle 1 is 25, 25, 35.3553, with angles 45, 45, 90. Triangle 2's got me stumped. Excuse my lack of attention to the question. |

For Triangle 1, I rounded to the nearest integer when I said Triangle 1: sides 25, 25, 35; strictly speaking, it's 25, 25, 35.355, and with two sides equal, of course it's a 45-90-45 right triangle. Grey's answer (and mine) seem fine for Triangle 2; it's your basic 30-60-90 triangle, in which sides will necessarily be N, 2N, and Nsqrt3. For triangle 3, the sides are 5, 6.88, 8.503 and the angles are 90, 36, and 54. (edited by Heian-794 on 07-11-04 03:50 PM) |
