Don't you hate it when programs install desktop shortcuts without asking? Think of it as that times a million. (BTW, the smilie's missing from the thread icons. ) |

It's only happened to me once. A website took over and made it the default homepage, and placed several icons on the desktop. That was annoying. Fortunately, I managed to fix it. | |||

To think that there's probably some legal loophole that lets those companies do things like this... You can only view that image if you sign up, and I'm (as well as others I'm sure) not going to join a message board just to see one 40k picture. |

I never have spyware, virusses (except for Blaster and Sasser, which apperantly almost everyone got) or other unwanted crap installed, because I'm not stupid enough to click the 'OK', 'Accept' or 'Next >' button whenever an unknown window pops up. Oh yeah, and I'm not using Internet Explorer anymore. It's way too easy to mess around with your operating system or browser through Internet Explorer. |

Arg... This is exactly the same circumstances that spawned the first virus. A couple of guys who distributed their own games back in the days of the first PCs decided it would be a good idea to include malicious software with their newer games. This software would start causing problems on the computer if pirated games that were made by these guys was found. Communities should band together and campeign against this activity. We won't stand for publishers treating us like criminals. Their activity is an unwanted intrusion and must be stopped. |

It's a anti-copy game thing. It prevents you from copying the game. At least that what it's seems to do. In a way it's spyware, it dosen't spy precisly but it's installs without your knowledge. Sure it's probably was mentioned in the License. But very few people look through that. (I do... sometimes ) |

Ah yeah. I hate sites like that. My younger brother went to one (it was a search engine), and it would make a shortcut on the desktop then become the homepage. When you fixed it up, it would just redo it when you restarted the computer. Fortunately my older bro fixed that. |

Yes, brain power is important. I searched a specific ROM, got to a page and in Firefox a small window asked me, if the page may install a small thingy called "Free Access Plugin" ... meh', I'd be the most stupid person if I had clicked on "Yes"; we know what these "free plugins" mean (the plugin itself IS free, but ... ) And to disable downloading attachments when you're not registered, sucks, yes, depsite the little amount of work when registering. That pisses me off acutally and is everything else than user-friendly |

I'm POSITIVE there were some shareware games that, if the game was detected as a pirate, would basically do a FORMAT C:\ on you. Obviously, there weren't many. |
