Intro Mushroom Isle Water Land Comments? Advice? P.S, The Dino Troches are orange because I'm planning on making fire breathing goombas (edited by Clockworkz on 06-10-04 05:31 PM) (edited by Clockworkz on 06-10-04 05:33 PM) (edited by Clockworkz on 06-10-04 05:34 PM) (edited by Clockworkz on 06-10-04 05:43 PM) |

Screenshots look good. The "EXTREME!" part worries me, though. And fire breathing goombas... You DO realize Dino Rhinos turn in to Dino Torches when stepped on, right? I don't think you're all that good at sprite hacking, so that could be something of a problem.

OK, there are a few things here: 1. I like the screenshots in general, there are a few things though.... 2. The (c) CLOCKWORKZ thing, move it down a bit, looks too far into the screen 3. Same with the EXTREME! thing, move it up some. 4. The powerup replacements you used look good, and they also looked good in all the other hacks they were used in. 5. I like the idea with the fire breathing goombas, and about what Kyouji said, i would make the dino rhinos big goombas. Then you kill a big goomba it would make a small goomba. 6. In the ninth pic, the turtles eye looks kind of weird. Wait, really weird. |

very good screens i suggest the YI goombas for the fire-breathing goombas, and, as kario said, youd have to change the dino rhino into giant goombas so there is a decent effect |

Some of the GFX could use a little work, like the Koopa's eye in the 8th screenshot, but otherwise, they look good. The beach tileset looks nice.

Interesting Yoshi Coin But it's not that bad... although the pipes, while somewhat okay, look like crap |

Interesting, xKeeper (just to piss you off =P). Especially since I didn't edit the pipes at all. |

i guess he was talkng about the way those thin pipes were put in the level but, honestly, i see nothing wrong w/ them, they seem fine, imo |

Originally posted by ClockworkzNo, no, no, Clockworks. The way it's a complete block [the black outline around the entire thing]. I know that wasn't in the original version, and Fu did it with Demo World. Fyxe [and some others, but that name jumps to mind] had problems with the way the pipes, when placed next to the regular water tiles [normalanimated or regular] would leave a 'gap'. Fu did that exact thing [made the black border all around it] for that... It's just that it looks like crap in most cases. For refrence, that's the shot I'm talking about. And you must have edited them; the pipes have one line of transparancy on either side by default [yes, even the horizontal ones.] If you require further meaning to what I mean, I'll tell you when I get home [and can take a screenshot]... |

He might be referring to the straight edges of the normal pipes. If so, I agree with him. They definitely look like crap. I always hate how people cop out on making pipes smooth with the ground by making their edges completely straight. ExGFX is your friend. EDIT: I'm a little slow tonight. Why not just edit the tiles themselves? I don't see what's so special about using ExGFX for things you could easily modify, really. (edited by Xkeeper on 06-12-04 12:25 AM) |

Oh, of course that is one possibility. But I like to keep my pipes the same as the original SMW graphics, just as a stylistic choice. And since editting isn't an option, I would be required to use ExGFX. Or edit out some little used tiles in the original GFX files, which I am also not prepared to do for various reasons. Whatever works for you is always the best option, as long as it doesn't look like crap. |

Maybe it had to do with the image optimization thing i did in photoshop. I optimized for web, and maybe that was a side effect...

Well, I honest to god, didn't touch the pipes. I swear on my eventual grave, Ronald Reagan's grave and Jesus' grave that I didn't.

Did your hack start with editing Demo World or DW3? That could do it. Anyway, just do what I did, and make the pipe bases the same thickness as the pipe head by copying down the exact order or the colors and pasting it around it. Also, your last comment reminded me of something I heard: "Your very existance makes Baby Jesus spin around in his grave and Santa Claus vomit with rage." |
