This is an idea that I have had for an extremely long time now, so I think with some news I received yesterday, I shall create this "Anime News" Thread. This is a thread where I shall list announcements that pertain to anime, manga, etc. Keep checking this thread for new updates!  6/8/2004 It's official, 4Kids has licensed the One Piece anime, only three days after licensing the Tokyo Mew Mew anime. The anime will air on the FoxBox like the rest of the anime licensed by 4Kids. Further Reading My Two Cents I personally think that with 4Kids licensing One Piece, the series won't fly. I hate 4Kids and how they deal with anime in America. Just look at their work on Shaman King, Yugi Oh, and Pokemon! Ironically, the One Piece opening is playing right now! 6/10/2004 A new Galaxy Express 999 anime will be released in Japan soon on SKY Perfect TV entitled Uchuu Koukyoushi Maetel ~Ginga Tetsudo 999 Gaiden~. The series will take place two years after the events of Maetel Legend. The anime will also feature a young Captain Harlock. News of 4Kids' takeover of One Piece hits International News! My Two Cents Whoo! More Leiji Matsumoto anime! I really cannot wait until this airs, because I am sooo downloading it! 6/21/2004 4Chan, the largely popular anime image hosting site, has been shut down. It has been said that part of the reason for 4Chan's closing is due to the popularity it had. On other news : Dragonball Most Popular Search Ever at Lycos? (2004-06-21 16:48:41) "A little bit old, but still interesting. Dragonball has been one of the top 11 most searched for items on the Lycos search engine ever since Lycos started publishing its top 50 list, that's 252 weeks (since August 1999). According to them, Dragonball "may be the most popular item in the history of the Lycos 50." As you can see, all the animation is new. *excited*  By the way, the Gundam F91 section is online at GundamOfficial.com. 7/27/04 The last episodes(double episode)-- 166 and 167 of Inu Yasha has been announced and shall air on TV in Japan on September 6th. A fourth movie will be following shortly after, in December. More about it here. 7/28/04 The Anime News thread shall now be open to all members of the board. Trigun has finally been liscenced for the UK by MVM  The anime is now famous in the US, but is relatively unheared of in the UK, however, a number of dedicated fans have imported the series The First Ghost in the Shell: Innocence trailer for the US release is now up on the internet from Film Force News from Anime UK News |

| There is an interesting article at Wired at the moment, called The Giants of Anime are Coming. No real ground-breaking information, but it is interesting to note that we may be seeing more anime at the box office. Well, those of you lucky enough to live in the US, at least.... I thought Trunxy or Phil might want to change the topic to celebrate the arrival of Gundam Seed Destiny soon instead of GITS  . It's either the 9th of October or the 10th of September (my guess is on the former) though I don't know enough date kanji to know for sure. |
