Jurassic Park and Toy Story

...Huh? Off the top of my head, both of those games were regular action games. Maybe they had some first-person levels but...

DKC2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
Beautiful... just... beautiful. I can't think of a better looking or sounding game, wouldn't you agree?

I totally agree. In fact, this game has the best strack ever plus all those graphical effects.

Yeah, the indoor scenes in Jurassic Park were first person. The AI was really bad, so these levels where way too easy.

As for Toy Story, about halfway through the game, there's a first person stage where you save these green alin toys from a crane game. No enemies, just a time limit, so it's pretty dull.

The X-Band was really one of those things that was ahead of its time...it supported most of the EA Sports games, as I recall, and some others too. Wasn't there one for Genesis too?

If we're talking a bare SNES, no extra chips, my top picks would be:

Super Metroid - usage of many different modes, done tastefully (mode 7, IRQ)
Chrono Trigger - beautiful music, nice spell effects
Seiken Densetsu 3 - also amazing music. Mode 7 map was as good as ever. Graphics were good and detailed.

Modded SNES:

Super Mario RPG [SA1 I think] - very good graphics and effects. Music is also quite good.
Star Fox 1 & 2 [SFX 1 & 2] - Hell I like the graphics. I thought the textures from Starfox 64 were hella ugly, and the voice acting was annoying/atrocious. Had it been completed, SF2 would have been awesome with the multiplayer mode (which I've played in the beta).
Street Fighter 2 Alpha - just... cool.

axelay kicked ass with mode 7, bahamut lagoon looked good with crazy gradients, and yoshi's island just kicked ass overall. as for dkc... i don't know enough about the snes shit to know if this is that special, but i was replaying it a while ago and there are a lot of things like the blue lights on some levels and other thigns that seem to have multilevels of transparency.. i havent seen that on any other games, so.. well, maybe it just looks special next to the prerendered graphics.

DKC had great GFX, YI had nice GFX, sound and gameplay, FZero and Super Mario Kart used 3D very well, and Star Fox really pushed the SNES to the limits. (I couldn't stand the actual game though, steering was way hard. The graphics were ugly, but that's excuseable. )

I agree too. Especially when you achieve the true ending (with the ship moving in the sea).

Let's see:

Starwing (Starfox for the yanks, etc.), I loved the graphics on them, it doesn't look that ugly, and it has difficuly too =)

Tales of Phantasia: Voice Effects, Sound/Music, let's not forget the graphics. Great game.

Seiken Densetsu 3: Listening to SD3 music right now . Day/Night system is great, graphics rule and Angela = Sexy.

Oh yeah, I have Stunt Race FX too, that rocks. Very visually impressive, and has Starwing cameos

I'd have to say: Breath of Fire 2, Secret of Mana, and Chrono Trigger

They all have superior sounds, graphics, and gameplay
