Sigh - Experimental J-thrash - Imaginary Soniscape - Bring Back the Dead
Blind Guardian - German fantasy/power metal - Live - Mordred's Song
Carcass - Goregrind - Oxidised Razor Masticator - Reek of Putrefacation (Carcass was already suggested, but this is when they were at their pinnacle)
Death SS - Thrash/horror metal - Vampire - In Death of Steve Sylvester
Adorned Brood - Norsk folk metal - Lebenslied - Erdenkraft
Burzum - Norsk black metal - My Journey to the Stars - Burzum//Aske
Motorhead - ANYTHING
Roots'n'Boots - Oi!/metal fusion - Aggro-Culture - Young, Loud & Proud
Ambrose Slade - Early Punk meets Black Sabbath - Roach Daddy - Beginnings
Bal-Sagoth - Epic black story metal - Draconis Abionensis - Atlantis Ascendant

I probably have more.

I selected these bands because of their ability for anyone to get into. Each of them represent a little something for everyone who is into GOOD punk or metal.

You know, after careful consideration, I'm going to drop my nomination for Steadman, and add Nirvana, Rock (Smells Like Teen Spirit - Lithium - Breed)

And, yeah, I know Nirvana is grunge (and so is Bush), but, well, grunge is really a sub-division of rock, no? And you didn't want it too specified...

I'll get YoshiDude to change the name of this topic to Discussion instead of Nominations as soon as I see her.

Did anyone notice my request for a discussion on the abuse of the voting system in the Manic Street Preachers / Tenacious D thread? I'm serious about this, there are votes that can be called into question that could decide this.

Yes I did notice, and this is what I did:
DO NOT VOTE TO 'EVEN OUT THE VOTES', OR ANYTHING EQUALLY STUPID
I added that to the new ones, and will on all the new ones that are created too. That's pretty much all I can do.

Tenacious D almost beat the Manics for the simple reason that not many non europeans have heard of the Manics. That said, i do like the "D", but the band that wrote "Motorcycle Emptiness" shouldn't have been beaten by them, that and "Design for Life".

If I can't compare a band, then I don't vote. Simple as that.

Precisely the reason I'm not voting in the Franz Ferdinand thread... I know who they are, but I really haven't heared enough. The new classic back to basics rock'n'roll has eluded me

I couldn't have put it better than you, Elmo, on Motorcycle Emptiness... That song is just sheer brilliance

Is someone maintaining a central list of the matchups and victors thus far, that they might care to post here? Maybe a tournament ladder?
