I realise that there's another thread about this but a) There's no Spoiler Warning at the top and b) Some people get arsey if threads are bumped.

NE ways here goes.

- The director does an excellent job in darkening the tone of the films, and whilst PS and CoS are more "fantastical", you get the impression that PoA is firmly grounded in reality, the first scene with the Dursleys is a great example of this as it plays out almost like a documentary style in a way, you feel that this belongs in the same universe as "Y Mama Tambien", (until he blows up his aunt, then it descends into farce, as it should do).

- Sirius looks different than I thought, much more scary and threatening, (which is a compliment).

- The Knight Bus is excellently done, the first difference between film and book occurs here in that they don't drop off the Witch first, and Harry Doesn't give his name as "Neville Longbottom", (in fact he doesn't give a name at all). the way it's been edited though is brilliant, very frantic and it really gives an idea as to what the Knight Bus is like. The bloke who plays "Stan" is right on, but Lenny henry (as the Shrunken Head" is a bit annoying).

- The Scene at the Leaky Caudlron is alright, there's some nice comedic moments there (the Monster book of Monsters is a particular highlight), and it also differs from the book as I don't reclall Fudge buying all Harry's 3rd term books for him. My mind may also be failing me but we also miss Hermionie buying Crookshanks. Was that in book 3?

- On to Hogwarts and our first view of Michael Gambon's Dumbledore, he plays it very welll, but a bit trippy for my liking, going into these monologues about dreams and suchlike, but he's possibly closer to JK Rowling's Dumbledore.

- Hogwarts in general looks a lot different, MUCH larger (Hagrid's Shack is in the middle of nowhere, which looks a bit more authentic in my eyes, gotta love the Pumkin path too.)

- David Thewlis makes an excellent Lupin by the way, the fact he puts this cool music on in the Boggart Scene is excellent. (and that scene in particular is one of the funniest, mind you I noticed how different Neville looks nowadays

- The Dementors are pretty scary, they have this very ethereal presence to them which is creepy.

- The one and only Quidditch match is a little different from the book, instead of all these spooky Dementors looking up at Harry from the floor, they attack him in the air, which does tend to lend more weight to him falling off his broom (as he does so about 100 foot up)

- Malfoy looms a LOT different and Crabbe and Goyle are much smaller than him now! He's got the part of comic relief which is true to the book, however I would have liked to have seen his arse kicking from Harry care of the Patronus.

- Ah yes, the Patronus, for the most part it looks like this huge silver umbrella, until the end when you see the Stag bit, but this is never explained, you never learn who Padfoot, Prongs, Moony and Wormtail are, even though the Marauders Map is used (I assume the poor Non-Hp loving part of the audience are wondering how the hell Lupin can work the map)

- Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are both excellent, and really own their parts, I justlove Ron, but Herminonie is starting to kick arses, there's also a lot of nice moments between them which seem to indicate a future for these two, it's incredibly sweet. If you've not yet watched the film, think something along the lines of whom Hermionie hugs in the end of PoS

- Daniel, Daniel Daniel, WOW! For the first time ever he makes Harry seem, well a bit scary, when he bellows out that EXPECTO PATRONUM, you believethat he could kick ANYONE'S arse!

- Loved the Time Turners scenes, and especially as they let us see Herminoie smack Malfoy TWICE (in a homage to Back to the Future 2, I felt!).

- Buckbeak looks excellent, compared to the troll from PS, there IS no comparison, Buckbeak looks real

- Harry gets his Firebolt at the end, and not the middle, the actual end of the film is the weakest and cheesiest scene in ALL the Harry potter films to date, but I feel the Director didn't want to end with the Hogwarts express, and besides, he hadn't seen the Dursleys since he blew up his aunt, I doubt they;d have been much to say (in the book, not much happens, if I recall correctly).

So.... Basically, Loved the film, it's the best yet, Mike Newell has quite a fight on his hands to better it, but I'm already looking forward to Gof (They should have filmed it back to back with OotP to get them made quicker.

I lost track of Harry Potter a while ago (boring), but.. what film number is this? And what book is currently out? How much longer will this madness continue?

it seems like there was something like he does go back to dursleys, with a letter from sirius to them and that was how it ended or something.

I saw this at midnight last night... (well, technically early this morning...)

It was an excellent movie!! Except for small details like everyone looking anorexic, the music sounded like it came from Ponty Python and the Holy Grail, and there was no room for character development or suspense because everything moved too fast.

Yeah, so basically, I wouldn't waste my money on it in the theaters again...

I've changed my mind, and I think I will see it, and here's why.
I was flipping through this weeks issue of US magazine (I'm such a loser ) when there was this thing about recent child stars hitting puberty. It showed that kid from Jerry Maguire (trying to look like a punk with glasses and braces.. oh jebus) and that kid from the 6th sense (looks the same except for now he's wearing clothes too large for him. it's ridiculous. anyone want me to scan these pages? they're amusing).. and then there was Emma Watson, who plays Hermione. I saw the first Harry Potter, she was 11 years old then, and annoying. as. hell.
She's 14 now and omg omg. She's not quite there, but she's so going to be hot. I can see it. I can see the future. And I'm 16, so I get to say this. Hahahaha. Is she still annoying in this movie?

She ' develops ' through the movie, and you can see clearly how..
Anyway, great movie, but it didnt go into the ' Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot and prongs ' thing, and that was a big part of the book.
Mmmmmm, Emma watson...

Yeah, so are we.

Anyway, I saw the first one and liked it. Haven't gotten around to the second one yet. I doubt I'll see this in theaters but I have plenty of time to watch the second one before this comes out on dvd.

Well, I went ahead and saw this on friday. (Got out of classes to see it, and theres only 9 days left in school, so who cares?)

It was quite well done. The dementors were creepy enough. Not so "OMG HIDE IN FEAR"" creepy, but enough to send a few chills down your spine. The fact that verything freezes over when they come around is a very nice touch. The scenes with the whomping willow are a nice touch of comedy relief (In a way). The werewolf could have been done a bit better, but it looked brilliant anyways... The time turner bit was really cool. (Double smack by Hermione YES!)

A few gripes though.... MALFOY LOOKS, SOUNDS, AND ACTS LIKE A PANSY NOW. and that hairstyle is absoultely horrid... since when has Malfoy had straight hair with bangs . And the way they ended it was.... not very good. It didnt feel right in more ways than one.

Finally.... THEY LEFT OUT MOST OF THE GOOD PARTS.... But... as always, the movie is never as good as the book

Overall, it was a good movie, dispite some disappointments.(A bit short if you ask me)

Yeah, I forget who said it..but my sister or one of my friends said that they left out all the good parts and that the book was way better . I need to start reading..I just saw it today and it was much better than I thought it would be. The effects were well done. Heh that girl, Emma Watson wasn't very annoying. I don't remember the first one much since I fell asleep when I was watching it awhile ago. I do remember her being annoying but she's not like that in this one. I should watch the 2nd one and finish off the first..or read the books then do that. I just should have read the books before the movies but working backwards is fine too .

I saw it on opening night. In my opinion, the atmosphere wasnt right. Not enough robes. Could of looked like any other movie at certain points. It was worth waiting an hour in line, even having my ticket already, a good night out.

As a Gary Oldman and Alan Rickman fan, I'll prolly go see this movie. Plus, I heard it had a darker atmosphere than the other HP movies. I enjoyed the others too so I don't see why I wouldn't enjoy this one

I'll probably go see it. I began liking Harry Potter in the 3rd book (1 and 2 sucked). And I have nothing better to do anyway.

These kids, if the don't fall into the child actor slumps, are going to be the next Russel Crowes and good female actresses of the day (really, I can't name a good modern one, so I'm going to say Marilyn Monroe).

I've seen it, and I loved it! It's much better than the other 2. (But I love them aswell) it's much darker and the actors have improved, although they aren't the best yet, they can become... The third book is the best of the books so far, and I am happy that the movie is good, or as I would say, the best. Now all I can do is wait till the fourth film comes, eventhough it will probebly take a year or so.
