I got a DVD drive for my comp and it played DVDs fine for the first few days. Now it loads like the previews but never goes to the menu screen, so I can't play the movies. Anyone have anyway of helping me please do.!!

Maybe is something wrong with the DVD, your software has problems to play the DVD or your DVD drive has problems to read the DVD.

BTW: Is the DVD original or burnt?

1) Do any others work?
2) Does it work with a different player program?
3) Does it work in another player?
4) What are you trying to watch, what are you using to play it, what brand of player do you have, and what operating system (Windows, Linux, OSX etc) are you using??

No music at all, or just from DVDs? I'd be wondering if this particular disc has some sort of copy protection that's accidentally been triggered and your drive's straining itself to death trying to play it, or even something strange about the way it's burned/pressed (I know you said it's original but it still has to be burned at some point).

I uninstalled the Norton SystemWorks program that came with the laptop and now everything works perfectly. Im not sure if that program was using lots of RAM or what but it was messing up. It wouldn't even check for viruses, it said it had an error and to reinstall the program again. So after uninstalling that shit everything is fine now .

Yeah, Norton products in general are notorious for not playing nicely with people's computers. I have no idea why.

Glad to hear you fixed the problem though.

Suppose this can be closed, and BTW, AVG > Norton.
