Not at all. The battle system in Chrono Trigger had spells, which strongly reminded to its "inofficial" prequel Final Fantasy VI, just compare Crono's Lightning2 with the Ramuh summon in FF VI. Not to forget the ass-kicking combo system. Chrono Trigger only was a bit too easy, you have only some fun, when putting battle speed to 1 and the mode on "active" though |

Originally posted by Colleen Agreed. Secret of Mana was a pretty good game, but I'd never give it the kind of praise I'd give Chrono Trigger. The battle system was awesome in CT. One thing I thought was really inspiring in Final Fantasy IV was that W.Meteo combo that Golbez and FuSoYa do. The double and triple techs in CT capitalized on the extra fun and creativity that was possible with such a fine RPG. Love two spells? Chances are, they can be combined into something even cooler (ala Antipode). (edited by Felix on 05-26-04 02:34 PM) |

"I'd take CT over SoM anyday, so fanboys or not the right game won." Actually, no. Can we make this the official GameFAQs battle thread? Today is Zelda LttP vs. FFVI. Zelda is barely winning.. I voted for it. Best Zelda game.. it just kicks ass. |

Actually, yes. I know some people might like SoM, but they're two different games and I put away... geez... soooo many hours on CT. So there you go. 4,000+ vote lead for Zelda with 3+ hours to go... Yup. Bit of a shock there. |

My vote goes for FFVI--i like the story better and the characters...you met an assortment of characters that had depth unlike the CT "sequel" but yeah. Anyways, CT was good but VI is better to me.

Chrono Trigger had time travel, and a floating island, which both rule Oh, and it had a good plot, too.. Well, so did FFVI.. But I just liked Chrono Trigger better.. But if it was Chrono CROSS VS. FFVI, then FFVI would get my vote.. I didnt like CC too much. |

Zelda beat FFVI. Ahahahahhaha. I wish you could go back and check the records. Today is FFVII vs. Metal Gear Solid. It's a no duh situation. |

That's really not all that surprising, actually. Zelda is the one Unstoppable Force that's equivilant to FF on GameFAQs (You'll recall that Link actually won the Summer 2002 character battle).

Plus A Link to the Past is just a much better game than FFVI... Well... In *my* opinion. It did far more for gaming than FFVI did... FFVI was wonderful, and it's the cream of the FF games, but it didn't do as much for gaming as a whole as I believe ALttP did. ALttP is virtually perfect, refined and utterly enjoyable. FFVI has flaws... I voted for MGS simply because I think VII is the most overrated game in existance. At least on GameFAQs. |

I also voted on MGS today. And I have actually played the first MGS just not much of it... great game but I couldn't get into it... I can't seem to get into any Final fantasy game either. Saying that Lttp is perfect is stretching it thought, I know no games who is perfect. (edited by Kitten Yiffer on 05-27-04 05:52 PM) |

Link's Awakening [GB[C]] kicks the crap out of LttP any day for me. But ... eh, I'd have to give a "Neither" on this poll. I hate RPGs with a passion. =P Well, actually it's because I suck at them, but ... |

I liked Links Awakening better than LttP too, but maybe because I had so much fun abusing a glitch in it (The original B&W version).. LttP had a better engine, though.. And the Dark World idea was cool.

I like both, but i'd go with Chrono Trigger. The Battle system is better among other things.

Yea, DS, if you press select (map screen button) while you're in the middle of switching screens, you get warped to the opposite end of the new screen you would be on. But it doesn't work in DX It's fun to do that glitch in caves. I managed to get the instrument for Eagle's Tower without ever gettin the sword... but then I got stuck on the tower entrance because there was no door. |

The original Link's Awakening was rediculously full of glitches. That one was the biggest, but I believe there are a load of other ones, like being able to "pick-up" pieces of the screen at points as if they were pots or hedges. It was amazing that the developers managed to let so many things slip past them like that, but it certainly made for a great replayability factor!

FFVI is better than CT in my opinion. It's a masterpiece. I didn't feel that with Chrono Trigger. Nothing on the SNES compares to the opening sequence of the magitech armours marching on Narche. |

Starcraft beat Wind Waker. *blinks* SSBM's going to beat FFX. *blinks again* Like a #16 seed would do this well in the NCAA's. |
