i was online at school today, and decided to see how much the new slipknot cd was selling for at some online stores, and all the ones i went to usually have a notice if there is something that could offend somebody, like a parental advisory.

i didnt see one on any of the sites, so i looked for the lyrics, and i didnt really much swearing...

...is it possible that slipknot went for "cleaner" lyrics?

Slipknots lyrics just dropped the f-bomb and various other swears alot. Nothing really offensive was ever in the lyrics. Besides...Slipknot are boring.

Who cares whether the lyrics contain swearwords or not? Does it make the lyrics more cool? Bah, the only thing that matters is if whether the music is good or not, which, in Slipknot's case, would be not.

Ditto.

While Joey is one of the best trap drummers around, I still don't like Slipknot, for the reason that their lyrics are complete and utter shit and that their music is just loud noise. Nothing more.

Actually, I couldn't care less whether or not they release any more CDs or not. If people want to listen to them, fine, they may listen to them and buy their CDs. I, however, find them bland, and dull, and generally not good, so I wouldn't buy their CDs. Still, that doesn't mean others shouldn't be allowed to buy their CDs...

Tastes in music don't necessarily reflect talent or commercial value. F'rinstance, I kinda like this song by Rufio, who are of about the same stature in punk circles as Slipknot is in metal. The kids love 'em. I just happen to like it, mostly for the ending. Hell, I went through a phase where I reallyreally loved Korn. Can't explain it, but it struck a nerve as to what I liked.

Commercial success does not necessarrily equal musical talent. One great example of that is Liz Phair. Her debut album, Exile in Guyville, has been proclaimed one of the most influental albums of the 90's by many critics, and it also received excellent reviews. She also paved the way for the success of many female artists following her. Still, despite all that, she never had any commercial success (her album sold ok in the United States, and is almost unheard of outside the US).

Oh, and in the nature of the person who started this thread. If you listen to songs only for their explicit lyrics, you'll love Liz Phair. Only, I find that she manages to use swearwords in a much more elegant manner than many other musicians. The explitives are not in her lyrics simply to make them more controversial, but they are there because they fit so perfectly.

i wanted to see if i needed to bring a parent with sam goody so they would let me buy the cd

it turns out that they didnt have one this time, and it turns out that walmart did stock it unedited, for $9.99

I got a copy, and it is good, it has acoustic but its still the slipknot style accoustic, and it is great...

there are some weak parts, but the cd is worth the purchase if you buy it now, so its cheap
all in all, id give it about a 4 1/2 out of 5 due to the weak parts(the nameless)

and its called money, when it makes alot of money, theres a chance that they might make another, if they have more time apart, the reason they wanted to break up was that they were spending too much time on the road, and they were all getting pissed...
an example of how much time they were spending with each other is that(supposedly) at coreys wedding, the members wore their masks to the wedding

well, about liz phair, if she uses her swearing elegantly, and not to add controversy or whatever you said, you obviously have never head H.W.C. from her new cd...

I never said it didn't add controversy. Hot White Cum is controversial (and very good), but I find her use of swearwords in this song and others a lot more elegant than some bands who simply adds an f-word here or there (not saying this is necessarrily Slipknot, though. )
