I have an acoustic/electric (1994 Ovation Celebrity... an acoustic with a mic inside) but I haven't picked it up in years. Maybe once I have time, money, and motivation (you know, so I don't have to spend all my time job-hunting) I'll do it.

I've got a Squire Showmaster (Nice black Floyd Rose-d guitar) and a Peavy Bandit 112 amp (Pretty high, mabye two feet by two feet, so long as you're not doing a show or audition that's all you need).

I've been playing on and off for two years. I'm starting to learn to play fast, but I still have a long way to go before I catch up to any of the great shredders

Axology time!

Guitar: 1996 Fiesta Red Fender Jagstang.
Amp: 1960 Sears Silvertone Twin Twelve tube amp. (125 watts of power. O_o)
Effects: Boss DS-1, Boss OC-2, EH Big Muff Pi, EH Small Clone Chorus, Digitech Whammy... (I'm trying to expand my pedal collection - flanging, delay and so forth.)

I've been playing for three years. I play a variety of genres - whatever I feel like, basically. I mainly like either really raw and dirty Jack White-ish stuff or very textured sounds. I still suck no matter what I play, really, though. *shrugs*

Day-um. Where'd you get the Silvertone? I think the closest I'll get to a nice tube amp is if I mod an old PA. And I don't know that I'd really use a whole lot of effects. (Says the guy that doesn't own an electric.) Although I'd like a nice Strat or Tele... my father's Les Paul doesn't do it for me, but I've loved them single-coil tones.

i play guitar, bass guitar, drums, recorder, piano (well, not really, i can just find notes and that's it), and i can sort of sing (i'm not a lead singer, i back the singer up)

i have 4 guitars, i'll list them:

el degas classical acoustic
jay turser les paul copy (no longer playable)
fender fat stratocaster (main guitar)
ibanez grx20 (backup)

my amp is a marshall avt 20, it's a hybrid amp with a tube pre-amp and a solid state power amp. it really has a big sound, i played a short gig with the second guitarist using a bass amp with a 15 inch speaker, my amp kicked it's ass.

my effects are boss ds-1, mxr distortion+, dod 7-band eq, dunlop jimi hendrix wah. when i'm playing live with my amp, i only use my wah, but if i'm using someone elses amp, i use my mxr or boss dist.

currently i'm saving up for an art and lutherie wild cherry dreadnaught acoustic guitar, it's inexpensive and blows away a lot of guitars that are literally 3 times more expensive

I have a Fender Strat which I haven't practiced in about a bazillion years because I just haven't been inspired to play. I'm decent, but I'm definitely a rhythm guitarist - I can parse some pretty complex piano music by ear (including some of Tori Amos' stuff!), but I'll hear a guitar solo and just go DUUUUUUUH. I need to pick it back up again, though, because some songs that I enjoy playing are just more fun on guitar. For instance, "Star of the County Down" (an Irish folk song) has a ton of fast chord changes that are simple on guitar but rather annoying to do over and over and over again on the piano (e.g. Am F C G Am F E).

that's an awesome song, good job

apparently i never learn songs by tab, i play everything by ear and i know the fretboard enough to find the notes quickly. all you really need to know is to know if the note your supposed to play is sharp or flat. there are like a billion ways to play a note too, i just go with the ones that sound good and don't require me to move across the fretboard constantly

when i play guitar, i almost never really play a specific song, i improvise a LOT, it's really great because anything goes, i really love finding great riffs that i can write down for later use in an actual song.

Eh... I kinda had to learn by tab. My ears just aren't good enough yet. Although I could recognize how I needed to change the intro to "The Ghost In You", because the only tab I could find was Counting Crows's cover of it. I'm actually better at playing lead stuff... my fingers are just too fat to play tight chords.
