I think it would be great to have something like LM, and have an add ExGFX option to it. And for sure have an AllGFX.bin so we can edit the main graphics in YY-chr or another tile program.

Don't know if its possible but if you could have an option that will save an entire level to file as .mwl. That way we could import that level into LM, then use the ExGFX option to add the graphics. Then the level will be directly inserted into SMW Doubt its possible tho because of the layers and size of the levels.

Yeah, I dont think its possible, there are more layers, and I believe the layout of the level is a little different as well, so it wouldnt work, and yeah, ill make sure there is an ExGfx option.

There will also be an internal editor that has most features used in external editors, mainly so people dont have to have a seperate editor to edit the gfx easily.

I just thought of something:

It would be great to include a level tester. So like say you were working on level 3-1, instead of loading up the rom in zsnes or snes9x, you could go to File and then to the option Test Level. This would open a built in (or maby external) emu and it would play that level, on to the end of the game. It would be better then playing thru the game, and getting to the level you just edited.

Just a thought.

EDIT: And make sure you have some hidden things too. But not like the m16-7k thing LM has.

I can try the Test Level thing, I might be able to get it, although it probably depends on the Emulator, and I definently cant program my own Emulator....but I suppose I can add it so you can specify an emu so you can just go to run game, or if I get it to work, Test level. and yeah, ill have hidden features...

Sweet, this will be awesome when it gets done!

Will there be an overworld editor too? Like the scroll (I think) that the yoshi's walk on to go to the next yoshi/level? So you can edit the yoshi's path? Not up and down, just left to right because I don't think there are graphics for up and down.

**Thinks of how many SMW level remakes there will be in YI once this gets done...ughh**

BTW, in LM Fu has an option to play your game in an emu, but what Im talking about is the current level your editing.

EDIT: Just thought of something new again. There is a level called Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy. When you touch one of these things the screen gets all screwed up, its kinda cool. Well, have you figured out if this is level specific or if it will happen in any stage there is a fuzzy. In the game it happens in a grass level, but what if you used the fuzzy in say a castle level? Would it glitch because its moving the ground that shouldn't be moved like that? Just wondering, and wanted to know if your that far yet.
Anyway, good luck with this, take your time this needs to be good.

I think it's a bit early to tell exactly how a YI editor would work and get excited about special features. There are many things, including the map screen data, that are still not documented.

I don't think hiding features is a good thing. It just makes it harder for people to make their hacks.

I just replaced the chomp sign in 1-2 with a fuzzy generator. After touching a fuzzy, the colors started changing, Yoshi became hard to control, and Yoshi started moving up and down, but the ground didn't move.

Okay, I wondered what would happen. I think he should only hid things like the quick BG inserter (m16-7k in LM). Maby some other stuff. But NOT an editor that REALLY effects the game, like an editor for text or whatever.

How did you replace the sign with a generator anyway? Was it in hex?

I think, what I will hide, is some things that arent important but still fun to use. and im working on the interface rigt now, ill show it when im done most of it, its gonna be a little different then LM's

Thats good. LM's is squarish and un exciting. Just don't make this a DOS only program. My computer hates DOS!!! I doubt it will be, but ya never know.

We will see about the Name, as for focusing on the interface for right now, I need to because I dont know all of the vb.net I need to know to make some of the functions, but im just about there, then I need to make a dll kinda like Lunar compress, but just for YI, which I will also release, then, I will start the functionality.

the interface is almost ready for screenshots, I just need to do a few things, and the main part looks similar to LM, since I couldnt think of anything else, but the layout for the other editing parts are much different

why vb.net.... from what I heard vb6 is better anyway...
