In no particular order: Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Iced Earth (Even though I don't own any of thier CD's ), A Perfect Circle, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Symphony X, Stemage's Metroid Metal I listen to a shitload of other bands, but those are the ones I think rock the hardest or sound the best overall. |

Currently, using the term "rock" appropriately and not listing a bunch of metal bands I'll say The Darkness. YEAH!!! This shit's gold. I thought they were just a novelty thing when I saw the video for "I Believe in a Thing Called Love", but their album is definitely one worth getting. Awesome music...great vocal melodies... I love it.

Originally posted by Abnormal Freak Currently, using the term "rock" appropriately and not listing a bunch of metal bands In today's world almost nobody knows the difference between "rock" and "metal", or even "band" and "artist" for that matter. I wouldn't take the restraints too literally |

I haven't been listening to rock music for long (just got into it) but a few that I like thus far are: Linkin park, Story of the Year, POD, Creed, Hoobastank and others. (Bet someone five bucks that people are gonna say "WTF r u listening to?!111", but I like what I hear. I'm more of a lyric person anyway).

Originally posted by Banedon I'm a rap/hip-hop person, I don't listen to rock. Run DMC?? Beastie Boys?? I like those both, but in more rock / heavy metal terms Symphony X, Metallica, Blindside, POD, Led Zeppelin, Quiet Riot, and I gotta say Metroid Metal is pretty kick ass also. |

Although I have been gaining some respect for Linkin Park... they are what they are, and they do it well. Nothin' wrong with that. Lately? Uhm, I've been re-jumping on the bandwagon of the Start (total New Wave revival), but it's gonna be damn hard to top At the Drive-In. (pours a 40 for them) |

Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory is admittedly catchy and kind of good, but if I want to listen to annoying pop music, I'm much more partial to t.A.T.u.

Well, without making a huge list, I'll just name my personal favorite out of all mine. Pink Floyd. It was an accident (somewhat) that I started listening to them. I came across The Wall in my local Blockbuster one day and I decided it looked cool. And after that, it was on. I love a bunch of classic rock as well. Skynard, Zepplin, The Doors, Iron Maiden, and pretty much anything from back then. That's when the music industry was just overloaded with talent. Nowadays good rock bands are few and far between. Well, mainstream ones anyway. That's why I'm always on the lookout for bands that aren't very well known because they seem to make the best new music. Something about going mainstream just seems to kill bands. *coughcoughKorncoughcough* Oh, and I'm pretty much talking about American rock music. Any rock music that comes from other countries tends to still be very very good in this day of age. |
