Give the textbooks a good read every now and then when you're bored. It works for me

I'm not saying cramming is the BEST technique, but it certainly works for me. I find that doing a quick review of the material a few hours before the exam helps me retain important info. Your milage may vary of course, and you should still study regularly even IF you choose to cram. |

I'd say the creating notes option. Writing down main points and summaries yourself forces you to think about the material. Going over the notes later on will help said material stick in your mind. It also makes it easier for you to review lots of material at once later on (which is necessary if, for instance, you're studying for a final exam).

I think the best way to study is to write down what you learn. When I write, it really helps the information stay in my head, rather than if I were to read it. I ALWAYS cram. I don't think I've ever studied for a test more than a day before it was being held in my life. In fact, the only time i don't study during class is if it's something major. To be fair, I'm a real good test taker.. even on a subject I've got a weak grasp on. Helps my procrastination tendencies. |

I usually review a day before the exam. If its a REALLY tough one though, I'll try to study more, but end up procrastinating and doing the same thing...

If and when I do actually study, I use flashcards. Keyword on one side, definition on the other. It works better if you read them aloud. |

Originally posted by Colleen Fix hours with minutes and you've got my usual study regimen. Seriously. Another technique would be finding application for what you're learning. Writing it down is probably one way...but usually something that you can apply with it in real life helps. Although, that's hard to do in a lot of cases...but that's how I'd get better at, say, a programming language, or really, any language in general. |

Being awake in class, taking notes and doing what you're supposed to do and then totally neglecting studies the days before the test. It has worked really well in maths.. not in chemistry though . (I had to study for teh chemistry tests!)

can't say as I can give you much usefull advice, I never really had to study in school for anything.... but if I had to guess I'd say rewriting your notes...... reading them into a tape recorder... and listening to them and having someone quiz you.... would pound it into your hread |

1) Make small notes on important points. 2) Stick them in sleeves, under books, etc. 3) Review them during the test. But seriously, I rarely study, and still get good marks. (Except for some classes *cough*english*cough* but that's not because of tests. ) |

Cramming is a waste of time... The best way to make sure you know everything is to work hard during the lessons, then do the mock exams. But the most important thing of all is know the best way you study. If you know making notes of everything in the course is a waste of time because you'll lose it, don't bother doing it. |

Well, for the past two midterms I've taken-- Chemistry on Monday, Calculus on Friday-- rather than study the material, I've had to actually learn it, because I haven't attended a lecture for either class since the first midterm. For both classes I didn't start to learn the material until the night before, either. Despite my incredibly horrible academic practices, it worked out well enough for Chemistry, as I got well above average, and I'm estimating a C in Calculus, which I can live with.

I study all the topics which are on/ likely to be on the test a few minutes (Maybe about 10) beforehand. I usually do it in that class, so it's always imperative I get to class really early |
