Level is a big factor in calculating damage, just like in FF6. So it's pretty much pointless. |

If you know how to actually use them, you can do 9999 damage before LV45, easily. And if you use your materia, it's even easier. Also, don't forget that the number of materia slots can be considerated as a kind of ability. (edited by DarkSlaya on 05-22-04 10:41 AM) |

Haha.. I mock you fools for not realizing what the BEST weapon ever is. It is of course the DOOM AXE from FF5. I mean, it both has DOOM in the name and totally kicks ass. The only way to get it is by a semi-rare enemy drop and the place where it shows its true colors is the tower where you fight atomos. Seriously, I've never beaten that boss without it.. always Faris as berserker left as last (wo)man standing with the doom axe and yellow hp. Wham blam, doom axe unleashes doom spell, boss dies. On a close second comes Yoshiyuki, one of the least used weapons for Cloud. Seriously, I can't believe people don't get/use it. It's capable of dealing more than 6000 damage per hit at the end of CD1 (without insane leveling etc).

I would have to say the use of Darts would be fun like in FFVI.. I could always use that in a good pub fight

I think the Imp halbred (i think that's the name) is pretty cool. Transform into an imp and actually have a weapon that deals damage.

Dunno if it counts as an ability or a weapon, but the machines that Edgar used in VI (the chainsaw, the various guns....) were pretty good. I also liked the Nail Bat from FFVII. Crude, but damn effective. |

Guess it's ok to breathe life into this again, then. After replaying FFTactics, I have a certain appreciation for the female bags, and for Samurai Swords, the added powers that you unleash with the Samurai skill set own. They're also pretty neat when you double hand them. I also enjoyed using Zidane's twin daggers, I thought they were considerably cooler than the swallow-like thing he normally used. What was that called, anyway? Like the actual name of the type of weapon. |

I'd rather let this live as well...but like Reid said, galarolf, refrain from the bumping...any threads past two weeks old is more than likely considered old. I pretty much went for any Ragnarok sword that existed...and I think the only three games I can recall that had that were 5, 6, 8...possibly X...I haven't got that deep. Hell...I should replay it really... As for FF7...Cloud's original equip, Buster Sword. I could still get 9999 damage from Omnislash with the stats I acquired from the sunken Gelnika. |

Originally posted by Ranko ..? 8? I don't remember it... although I'm certain it was in 7, and the rerelease of 4 on Playstation had it (it was called the Crystal sword in the SNES version, I think). I think it was also in 9, though that I'm unsure of. I can't easily say anything on individual weapons, but I had one equipment set for males in FFT that gave nearly every commonly used positive status in that game. Chaos Blade (Regen) Excalibur (Haste) Robe of Lords (Protect + Shell) and Angel Ring (Reraise). So, since it's up there in that set, I'm gonna go with the Chaos Blade for this one. Auto-Regen, the strongest weapon in FFT, and it had a chance to Petrify enemies on contact. Jill: Ever tried 4 Chemists on Atomos with a couple dozen Hero Drinks, a few Giant Potions, and 4 Speed Drinks? No axe needed. |

I was dead sure that you could make it for Squall...but then again it has been some time since I've played it, so I might be off. Like...several years ago off... If nothing else, I got their ship's name right. (edited by Ranko on 08-06-04 07:18 AM) |

I like Setzer's Dice and Fixed Dice in FF6. Since damage is calculated by the value which lays on top after throw (six possibilites with Dance, 16 possibilites with Fixed Dice); give him a Genji Glove and Offering as relics, then equip both hands with dices. He'll instantly end up in a walking tank, since the dices ignore the half-damage penalty of Offering (like AtmaWeapon too) and even ignore enemies' defenses |
